The Book: On Combat
My Tai Chi teacher gave me this book.
I am less than 100 pages in but the
material is really very interesting.

There are many over-lapping concepts
in the book that would prove valuable
for jumpers, pugilists, cops, etc.

Some Details

The author has seen action and interviewed
numerous soldiers and police officers who
also have seen action and describes the
reduction in sensory perception, time
distortion, voiding bladder & bowel, etc.

Also talks about the reduction in dexterity
as the BPM raise above 175 due to stress.
There is also a reduction in coordination
from high pulse from cardio but not to
the same extent.

Re: [GreenMachine] Some Details
I own the book, haven't gotten to read it yet. He was giving a lecture to one of our Infantry battalions and I managed to grab a seat. Well worth checking out if you ever get the chance. His Wolves vs Sheep comparison is pretty interesting.

As for going into "the black" I'm sure some base jumpers experience this as well. Maybe not to the extent as someone in combat, but the BP and stress is definitely up there at the exit point..

Conclusion
I finished reading the book, took copious
hand written notes, and finally typed
them into a 7 page Word document.

The book is well worth reading but knowing
that most of you do not read any books I
am going to share my notes.

Be Aware: I've never served in the military
or as a police officer, nor have I been in a
gun fight. Hence please take my notes as
thoughts and ideas from an academic and
not as advice from an expert of anything.
