Freefalling 200'
I have a question for all you sub 200' freefallers out there. Ais any body freefalling sub 200' with a none vented canopy? Is anybody freefalling 150" with a none vented canopy?
I am jumping an ace 240 with about 50 jumps on it and no damage. I have a 200' a that i have pca'd and static lined and am now looking to take the next step. My lowest freefall so far is 260' over a 10' satelite dish.
Any info would be great.

Re: [Basejumperjeff] Freefalling 200'
Looking at your profile, I see you have 41 jumps.

I'd strongly recommend you not make a 200' freefall at your experience level.

Let's move the technical part of this discussion over to BLiNC.

Give me a minute, and I'll post my thoughts on the new thread over there.

If your lowest is 260ft then make some freefalls from below this and then reconsider sub200 without a vented canopy.

With freefalls toward 200ft (and then below) there are alot of other things to consider................

I WONT recomend to freefall sub 200´whith a unvented canopy.
I regular freefall 180´ whith a vented fox,it gives me just arround 3-4sec under canopy,by a unvented canopy you will be lower=shorter canopy ride, which might means that you have to land on rear risers, did you practice this?
Whith your breake settings set deep, your canopy already is close to stall point, which means that when you pull in your rear riser, theres a big chance to stall the canopy.

If your lowest freefall is 260´i also will recomend you to freefall in the range 200´-250´before playing whith the LOW stuff.

Also you could think of your delays on the 260´object,which kind of delay does you have from there? and how much canopy time?Do you really want to squeece it even more?

playing in the sub200´range is a dangerus game.

Re: [Faber] Freefalling 200'
I am just trying to get so info and educate myself a little bit more about the low. I regularely freefall 300' with 1-1.5 sec delays. The 260' I did was about .5sec. I have already experience rear riser flares with the deep brakes set and that was a learning experience.
I appreciate all info and experiences people can tell me.
Thanks

Re: [Basejumperjeff] Freefalling 200'
Free falling from low altitudes gives nearly no room for anything that doesn't happen perfectly.

From 210, The first jump, I had a perfect launch, perfect toss, perfect opening, plenty of canopy time. The second, there was some sort of hesi that put me extremely close to the ground upon opening. It was an eye opener to say the least.

Be absolutely sure of yourself and equipment when jumping from that low. Don't rush it. It's low man... Really low.
