I thought I saw something about a BASE trip to Malaysia in Feb/March. I had a call from someone interested in being on the load. Can anyone involved with this contact me?

They were giving out stuff about it in KL, I might have a copy at home somewhere.

I'm not certain, but I suspect its an Avery affair...

I think Aziz maybe involved at a local level, as Jasmin says there were leaflets being handed out over xmas/new year. The jumps were going to be from the KL Menara and Alor Star towers if I remember correctly

It's a BASE boogie. Registration fee for just KL Tower is US$100 and for both KL Tower and Menara Alor Star it's US$150.

Menara Alor star is about 103 meters and is in Kedah which is near the Thai border.

This is being organized by a local advertising company and Aziz is the technical and safety director for both towers.

Warning for anyone reading this board:

The northern (lower) tower is an advanced object.

When I was there, we had 30 very experienced BASE jumpers. By the end of the day, all of us had decided to stand down, in the interests of avoiding injury before the big tower was jumped.

If you are a beginning, or even an intermediate, BASE jumper, I'd strongly recommend skipping the lower tower jump.

For the record, I have been to lots of "Avery affairs" and I enjoyed them immensely. I have also enjoyed events organized by Slim, as well as those organized by Marta and Jimmy, and even some organized by other people.

I'd really prefer that we try to keep the BASE politics over at BLiNC.

Tom is correct. The winds there are pretty strong and the landing area very tight (Menara Alor Star)

Tom, I don't understand your comment about keeping the BASE politics over at BLINC. I don't see any political discussions on this thread. I posted my request at both places to give myself the most opportunities for a swift reply. FYI, I got several more responses on this forum than I did on BLINC.

If I've got a bite with someone, they'll know why 'coz I'll say it to their face first.

I wasn't having a go at Avery, or playing politics, I was just having a laugh with someone on this forum over the event postponement awhile back.

KL is the goods, just watch the landing areas if it gets a little breezy, the turbulance can be surprising...

Ps I first met Aziz when I was about 5 years old, if you ever want to play in KL, have a sweet talk with Aziz, he's the best thing since Rawti Chi!
