OK, what would be the highest 'rock drop' exit point, meaning vertical object.

Yet another topic, so I've split it off into yet another thread.

The highest vertical distance I know of is the dance music exit--I think it's around a 20 second rock drop.

I am totally ignorant when it comes to BASE so sorry if this is stupid but, would it be possible to do this with no BASE training but a few skydives?
With that altitude I can't see a great problem unless you are close to a cliff face.

It's still a BASE jump, not matter how high it is. That means you have to start out at the cliff face. Which means you are going to be opening (a) far closer to a solid object than on any skydive, and (b) far closer to the ground than on any skydive.

In short, no. No matter how high the cliff is, you still need to have appropriate training before jumping from it.

Norway is known for its many bigwalls in the 3000-6000feet range. But Norway has got even more low cliffs and other low objects. These objects are jumped regularly.
To this date, all of the base fatalities in Norway are from the bigwalls...
Not a single fatality from an object lower than 2700feet. I think there has been 16 or 17 fatalities in Norway.(That includes the fatalities at the Trollwall in the 80´s)
So, it can be dangerous to jump from a high cliff....

Being ready to do your first base jump is a combination of feeling ready and having some good skydiving/canopy skills. Most people recommend a minimum of 200 skydives before your first jump and the trend is showing an increase of jump numbers.

If you really want to get into base, do a First Jump Course. I did mine in 2001 at Kjerag with Chris and JJ and it was worth every penny. Kjerag opens up again at the Helicopter boogie (this year it was early June). If you want to do it sooner, then the USA is the place.
