Radiation danger.
Apparently the story of the working getting microwaved is an urban legend. I'm sure all of you have heard it.

Re: [b1jercat] Radiation danger.
oh... yea..we used to joke there was a reason all the old AWACs techs were going bald...

but seriously i have been told by reliable sources that during the early testing of the radar a hardware store down the street from the test range called to say their lights were flickering, to which they were told "thats the power companies issue, not ours". Until it was explained to them that the lights in question were still on the shelves wrapped in cardboard...Unsure

unless your climbing towers your REALLY not supposed to be on it shouldnt ever be an issue...so dont worry about the coppery taste in your mouth...it will go away...Wink

Re: [Zenister] Radiation danger.
Totally unrelated to the story.
I've seen some nasty nasty radiation sickness on mates after a jump from a certain tower....if its buzzin' you shouldn't be jumpin'....

Fine then; clarification: if its buzzing you shouldn't be climbin' or jumping! (Ie don't f***ing do it)
The radiation sickness my mates got from a particular tower would've ended even the best sex life (albeit temporarily)!!ShockedBlushShocked

In germany a few soldiers of the Bundeswehr, are demanding compensation because they say they got sick working on radar equipment. It is said that it was older equipment though.
The defense minister promised to pay them compensation. The whole thing was in the media in 2001.
