The first small steps
I have just taken the first (small) steps towards my first jump and ordered a Troll canopy with MDV in order to get some experience with the canopy before heading out for a FJC.

To say that it has taken a lot of thought is an understatement !!! I have been going through alternate days of "what the hell are you doing" and feeling scared beyond belief at the thought of taking another step closer and yet there seems to be something which keeps bringing me back to the idea and keeps burning away in the back of mind and just won't go away !!!

Is this normal ?? - not that I want to be thought of as normal !!!Tongue

Anyway now all I have to do is find a skydiving rig big enough to put it in (for the moment) and someone to teach me to pack it properly !!!Crazy

I bought an accuracy rig to practice for the FJC. Canopy is a Parafoil 252'. What size is your Troll? Container is a Talon, reserve is a Swift. You can have the complete rig for £350.

PM me if you are interested and want further details (rig is in London, you are welcome to borrow it for test jumps and to get your rigger to check it).

Well, I'm not sure if anything is normal anymore, but I just got my Flik in last week, and am trying to get some jumps on it, I'm still waiting on my container. But anyhow, I think we're probably having the same thought processes. Scared shitless at times, and excited as hell at others... Bottom line is, as soon as my Recator 4 gets here, I'm getting it all together and getting some friends to throw my ass off of something. Taking that next step will be tough, but I can only imagine the great rewards it will bring me.

I went through a hell of a lot of self doubting and questioning - this even went through whilst I was jumping. I got to a certain point and had an experience that was a complete realisation that BASE had found me............. It opened my eyes to myself........... I thank it...............

I think if you did not question it at the start / during / after you would not be normal.............

Enjoy your first jumps............... relax and take in the electricity that surrounds you - its called life.....

Cool

I hook some d-rings to my base rig and clip on an old front mount reserve to make it legal for the pilot. He dumps me off at a really fun altitude that knocks the edge off the base cravings if I'm in-need. It also gives me practice on my Ace.

Not to rain on your parade, but technically it's still not lgeal because the harness (i.e. the BASE rig) isn't TSO'd. Main reason I know is that I looked into doing the very same thing myself. Tongue

If you look at his profile it says he lives in Botswana (in Africa), TSOs are strictly an American thing.

Well it's good to know I'm not losing my mind !!! Tongue

I was beginning to wonder if I had finally flipped ...

Sellling house + car to go skydiving / travelling = madness according to most people ...As I explained at the time - "I haven't SOLD everything, I've actually BOUGHT a soul" Crazy

Anyway congrats on the 12hr UK BASE !!!

That's some going - you must have done some serious planning !!!

Maybe I'll catch up with you guys at some point when I'm back in the UK ...
