off headings and one sided deployments!
All of my off headings are left off headings.

I have video of my position, which "appears" fine, some I can put down to cross wind, some to PC osscilation, but some in nil winds pc off my back still go off to the left! I pack identical each and every jump (including my on headings) – and my control lines are identical length.

I just wondered it anyone can give me any other possible reasons why I may “consistently” get off headings toward one side (I have never had a right off heading). I have changed the side I sit at when I close the container and also changed the order I do things on the pack job – but all my off headings still go left!

Any thoughts from the more experienced canopy pilot why this leftness may be occurring?

Thanks for time and thoughts!!!

Be safe!

Are you jumping a pin rig?

I was having consistent off-headings to the left. After a lot of experimentation & packing video-watching it turns out I was closing my pin rig in such a manner that it was distorting the pack job to favor a left-hand opening.

When I first got my stiletto I got off headings to the right on every jump. It took a while to figure out but when I tried doing my left leg strap up tighter than the right the off headings stopped. Now when I hold the excess out the front I make sure the right is an inch shorter than the left. I guess it wouldn't make as much difference on a BASE canopy but I do the leg straps on my BASE rig up almost the same (just a half inch shorter). I guess I'm a little uneven Crazy.

No i jump a wizard and dagger266........ i think it maybe that i am distorting it when closing the container............... may experiment more with this...........

I apologize if this sounds a little elementary, but do you flat pack left side down (nose of the canopy pointed to the left)? I had a few 30 to 60 degree left openings in a row because I packed like this and couldn't seem to get everything symmetrical. I kept having trouble with the left side because it was under everything else. Since I started pro packing and got an AV pilot chute from CR I haven’t had any other problems. If you do flat pack on one side, you might try packing on the other side and see what happens. Even if you do everything the same way and the opening is the same, just looking at it all from the other side might reveal some little nuance or something. It helped me, but then again, maybe that was just part of my learning curve with BASE specific packing.

I also Pro-pack - though my PC's are NOT AV and are from the only manuafacturer (i believe) that dont put load tapes on the ZP.

thanks for your ideas though! appreciate all that may open another thinking door! Wink
