A certain cliff in Scandinavia?
There's a cliff in Scandinavia. It's 350m tall (1148'). It will be hosting a heli boogie in June, as part of a week of other festivities, right in the same neighborhood. You know what I'm talking about... uh-huh... yeah...
Questions: what do we know about the site?
Is it real gnarly? Those sub-terminal slider-up cliffs can be testy...
What kind of delays are being taken (no wing-suit)?
What kind of pc are people using?
Etc, etc...
Thanks

Re: [caerdydd] A certain cliff in Scandinavia?
doesn't anyone know the site i'm talking about?
should i name it? give more clues?
it's legal...
i just want to know whether it's an overhung cliff with a full-on six seconds of frefall right above a sweet landing area, or whther there's a 50' ledge 400' below the exit point and the LZ is a mile away...
either way, i'll be jumping it, but forewarned is forearmed (well, two arms, two legs...)

Grrr. Cheesy dial-up just lost my reply.

In short, I do know of the site, but I've never been there. Have you tried posting on BLiNC or The BASE Point? I bet there is even someone running around Headdown.net who can answer your question.

PM me if you can't find anything there, and I'll ask some folks I know who live in the area.

Do an advanced search on any internet search engine putting in 'extreme sports', Norway, June and it'll spit out the events website...

As the website says, 'Watch out for glaciers in the park, and - when jumping - for the ground.'

Some official info:

In reply to:
There you can find a 350m cliff. This cliff is unfortunately not suitable for inexperienced jumpers. Wingsuit jumpers must have 50 cliff jumps as a minimum.

BASEJUMPING AT THE HELICOPTERBOOGIE
To participate on the helicopterboogie at ekstremsportveko, you will need at least 20 slider up Basejumps.
Each jumper is responsible for their own experience and safety. The crew will take action if they have doubts about your experience.

WINGSUIT AND BASE
Firsttimers on wingsuits is not allowed.
We recommend at least 10 BASE jumps with wingsuit.

Registration:
You have to pay the boogie fee at the tent...before you show up ...for jumping.
Nok600,-
This fee includes free entrance on concerts and shows all the week.

Helicopterloads:
Jumpers: Nok300,-
Spectators/Press: Nok400,-

And a bit of info that I got from a friend:

Yes I have jumped the cliff...It is a subterminal slider up jump in the +1000ft range. With a wingsuit ... well that's another story. You can use the whole height, about 3000ft with wings. I have seen people who not make it all the way but usually it is those guys who do not practice from airplanes. If you go there take the wingsuit with you. The landing area are pretty far away but with a good flight you can make it and even land on the disc ... otherwise you have big grass fields "before" the landing area so you will be okay even if you go for it and do not make it.

Usually being just for two days it is a pretty big chance (or risk if you will) to be weather out. Last year...they had bad weather but they did some jumps in the rain and between clouds ...

Going there is fun...it is a massive party (it looks like a war zone) and it is great to hang out with the Norwegians.

Hope this helps anyone who is thinking of going.
