Not sure how this impacts Bridge Day, but...?

"The legislation was crafted with a nod toward tradition. Because hunting is not permitted in national parks, most of the area was designated as a preserve, which will allow continued access for hunters who have stalked whitetail deer on the sandstone bluffs for generations. And although BASE jumping is banned at Park Service sites, the legislation includes a provision that will allow Bridge Day — an annual October event that features jumpers parachuting the 876-foot distance from bridge to river — to continue."

I tried to look of the exact wording of that "provision," but I haven't found it yet. I'd be curious if anyone can find the reference.

Any luck finding that provision?

I looked yet again and still came up with nothing... even on their own website:

Within this statement from the above link, one might assume a provision exists (BASE & BD on both their minds); while finding it "encouraging" that media is accurate for once:

But I'm not (directly) seeing anything. Except one aspect of the nonsense of "journalism" today; sharing stories across multiple sites without any direct quoting or elaboration.

Regardless... having seen this news the morning of Dec 23rd, I had already talked with a buddy & we fully agreed: ("provision or not"), Bridge Day would continue unmolested. -- I'm still curious about any exact wording, but NPS obviously would at the very least, "if necessary", play whatever word games they need to play so that nothing is affected. -- Their designation changes, but it changes nothing for Bridge Day, base jumpers... & nothing for me.

To me, it looks like its now treated like any other NP. Meaning they can grant "special use" permits as they see fit. From the legislation:

Which is why I included ...(directly)... as what you emphasized is not a provision that has anything to do with BD.

Regardless of Bridge Day, BASE jumpers & West Virginia... that standard language would be there. That is not a "provision that will allow Bridge Day to continue." -- Which appears to be a statement "pulled out of a rectum."

Maybe one of us should pull a Magot & create a fake female identity to contact Ms. Morgan... & to flirt with her: "Hey Kate, cute pigtails. P.S. How the hell did you come up with this statement?"
