So I thought I’d just ask y’all what if anything can you play?(Apart from the pink oboe)

I’ve just got a seagull Merlin dulcimer like strumstick. Can’t put it down and I got duelling banjos stuck in my head.

Guitar

I can play the iPod pretty well.

alto sax and violin

Electric violin is my fav. Easier to play than the acoustic version :p Alto sax is what I'm best at, but only because I was in band from 5th grade through the second year of college with it.

I've played a bunch of different things over the years:

violin
cello
piano
guitar
bass

i also once bought an alto sax and taught myself the pink panther song..
it ended up getting stolen though...

I made a shitty didgeridoo from PVC pipe, it was surprisingly fun to play

Guitar, and banjo... poorly

I can't believe no one's said "I taught your mom to play the skinflute" yet

Guitar, Trombone, Baritone

Jug, Washboard, and Dashboard... poorly.


But I can play a tin can on steel bars like a Carnegie operetta.

Violin and trombone. I should never have given up the violin to learn the trombone though.

Fiddle and Harmonica

Piano for about 17 years. Gave it up in my late twenties. I always envied the guys who could take a guitar anywhere.

I came to hate the guitar, after a year of lessons I failed to make the damn thing sound like music. The finger picking I was greatly encouraged by but It was the strumming. I never got the hang of the up stroke so always sounded like a student. Also I just couldn’t change chords in short order so the strumming sounded even more awful. My tutor had me stuck on horse with no name, I mean for Christ’s sake it’s only two fucking chords but I’ll be buggered if I could make it sound like an actual song.
That brings me to my current attempt at music. Why on Earth a strumstick if I hate strumming? Well after 2 weeks on this seagull Merlin I’ve nearly got 2 songs that actually sounds like a kinda slow version of duelling banjos and I’m cobbling together pink Floyds afternoon.

So my next project y’all can laugh if you want but I’ve just gone and ordered a set of medieval bagpipes!!!! With a cow horn in the end of the chanter. Yep I figured everyone loves medieval music so why the fuck not?
I’ve had a great highland bagpipes practice chanter a while that I’ve not made any friends with, I can do the scales and baa baa black sheep.
I’ve tried to ask the guy making the set to do me something a little quieter than the great highland bagpipes maybe something indoors like the small/border pipes but it sounds like he’s not having any of that “ loud and distinguished “ he says.
I can’t wait to squeeze a bag...

I was just reading that buggs bunny and Edward Heath were pianists organists and orchestral conductors.

Trombone

I played drums for about twenty years. Probably the worst instrument to get into. Super fun but after a while you get sick of just playing beats if you have no one to jam with. Plus, you need a few square meters to set them up and even then your neighbors will hate you. Wish I had the space for a kit so I can work on perfecting the Purdie shuffle.

I got a guitar but was pretty bad at it so I just got some effects pedals and made weird noise loops with it. After a tendon injury in my wrist I have hard time making chords so I've all but abandoned it. It's sitting in my shed, probably with a warped neck by now.

I'd like to get a flute or a recorder or something like that just for it's portability but I'm still trying to get laid and prancing around with a flute isn't going to help close the deal.

Piano and guitar, those are the only instrument that I can play.
