Please be aware this person had NO skydiving training or base training whatsoever which makes it even more sad.

I feel it’s important to correct English report where it says that his mother supported him. It was not the case as it seems.

Local news say that his mother saw him work on a self made “parachute “, stitching and sawing. She spoke with her son about what he was doing and he said to her that he wants to jump this rig from this tall abandoned under-construction building in Makeyevka.

According to a local official interviewed by the news crew, the mother then talked him out of doing the Makeyevka building on at least two occasions.

Third time jumper went up with younger brother and did not inform the mother. She rang them though and asked where they are and where is the rig. They lied about going to Makeevka (they are actually from a neighbouring town of Hartsysk) and said that they gave the rig up for repairs to someone.

All news reports state he jumped a self made parachute system.

I doubt though that a 15 year old could have self built a rig without realising that it cannot be jumped from a 35-40m building.

My guess is that he grabbed a Ukrainian skydiving rig and either installed a base sized PC or modified a skydiving PC in some way. The simple mod he made is now being circulated by journos as “self made rig” which I believe is not true -- it was most probably not a self-made parachute system but a regular skydiving rig (maybe with a BASE PC installed).

The jump (from the second video) appears to be a hard assist, not a static line set-up (as it appears on the English newspaper published video).

Assistant held bridle till the container opened, bag came out and lines started un-stowing.

The PC is then seen doing its job. He got to line stretch and we can see canopy starting to come out of the bad prior to impact.

Partially extracted canopy is also seen on the ground next to body.

I asked around and so far have not found any evidence of boy having any skydiving or base training. The rig configuration speaks for itself, I guess.

PS. Local jumpers believe he used a MALVA-24 (size: ~260) rig which has a minimum opening height of 400m when jumped from an aircraft.
