Re: [RichM] Rekyavik jumpers/advice?
Sorry, never been to Iceland. Don't know of many places where BASE is legal. There may not be a specific law against BASE but other laws such as wanton endangerment, trespassing to commit a crime, conspiracy to commit a crime, etc can be charged against you. What I did on higher profile jumps, was to attempt to find what law enforcement was near or on the site. If it was hot, then have a friend at the landing site to drive me away, if it was just warm, then jump fast and run. Of course, it is easier to jump a remote site if you have a way to get out of the area fairly quickly. I really don't know what Iceland has available remotely. I must qualify this with the fact that I have been out of the sport for many years, and have only jumped in the US. I can't see the sport becoming less restrictive legally. But this is just my humble opinion and experience in the US. So take my advice for whatever it is worth now. And, yes, I have been busted before and chased but not caught.
Good luck in your endeavors.
