would she have still hit the ledge if it wasn't for the 180?

Please correct me if I've misunderstood something, but this was a first ever terminal tracking jump at an exit that has a great big go/no go decision ledge in the middle of it... is that right?

Re:baseDragon : I cant say as i was not there but the fact of the matter is she had a 2 sec canopy ride meaning she must of lost all sense of depth perception whilst flying would of impacted very hard either way after 2 secs under canopy even without an off heading.

Jakee:This was her first Slider up jump and first BIG wall tracking jump, . It has a island in the middle of the bowl but if you are that low you would pull because the landing area is a fair bit further away then the island..


see attached picture to see the jump. You can see the big island of trees in the middle of the bowl with the ledges connected to the wall on the right, with a couloir in between them .

also note that Gage was a fatality at this jump as well around the island in the middle.

There is roughly 800m overhung and vertical wall from the exit to where she was located. The jump is 1200m from exit to landing. Tracking out the bowl past the island and further down to the landing should NEVER be the focus of a beginner here (even though it is not a hardcore tracking jump)

7-8 second freefall (slick) is perfect at this exit and about as safe as you can get for your first E... This needs to be drilled into the first timer.

Several experienced jumpers have misjugded their jumps and been picked up there in the middle. But this have to be the first fatal jump from that exit point from what I can recall?
