' l'oiseau ' Ludovic Woerth, Fine-Art print 85x55cm. Tribute, fundraiser and potential investment opportunity by Reiner Ebert.
Today marks a very sad day, the 4 year anniversary of Ludo, Dan and Brian's passing.
I'd like to thank all of the people who have already contributed to the 'Humilite' documentary film, crowdfunding site on face-book! Your generosity and support has been truly appreciated by both the director, Dennis De Vries and I.
In all honesty, the campaign is moving more slowly than I had hoped. I thought that it might be a struggle to get people to support our endeavor to tell this incredible story and I guess that perhaps Dennis was a little naive in thinking that complete strangers would get behind something just because it is artistic expression - but that's who he is. He’s a person who sees the best in people, a surfer dude from California,- just like us! - who studied film production and wanted to someday help people with his ability to communicate. 6 years ago, he was inspired by the BASE community. He let go of his fears and security within the 'rat-race' and quit a lucrative career in NYC, to pursue his life-long dream of creating his first feature length movie.
I’m a straight talker, I try to always say exactly what’s on my mind. BASE has taught me that life is way too short to waste time on bs! I hope that the community - the 'BASE family', can see past me, and see the wonderful opportunity we have to put Ludo - the best wing-suit camera man, the sport has ever seen, on the big screen. I'm proud to present to the community - to Ludo's family and close friends - a film that is truly exceptional! - a fantastic tribute to Ludo!!!...Dennis is like a master conductor, weaving together multiple complex themes and stories - and an amazing sound-track! - to create a lasting impression on any viewer. If you are a non-jumper and watch this film, you will truly understand the motivation we have, to jump. If you are an old school jumper, you will enjoy the experience of looking back at the good old days of base and spending a moment with some friends that have passed. If you are a new jumper, you will benefit from learning the story of an experienced jumper, who despite his years in the sport, despite his currency and proper progression, still managed to fuck up! and almost die- by making the wrong decision at the end of what was until then, an awesome day. But above all, any jumper who watches this film will want to go and pack their rig and go out for another jump! Dennis is a true creative genius and has fulfilled his end of the bargain, by telling this story the right way.
On this poignant day- a day in recent history, when the BASE community lost three wonderful human beings, and one of only a few of my best friends, Ludovic Woerth, - I would like to make one last ditch effort to try and get momentum behind this worthwhile campaign. It gives me great pleasure to offer to the base community, as a fundraiser and potential investment opportunity - a limited edition, signed by (me) the artist - Fine-Art quality, print, of my oil on panel painting, ' l'oiseau ' - Ludovic Woerth. (1979-2014) 85x55cm.
(See attached picture below this post)
The original reference photo was a screen shot by Tom Phillips, from the documentary film 'Humilite' by Dennis De Vries. The prints are basically the same size as the original - 85x55cm and are professionally printed here in Switzerland, by Daniel Zobrist of Artworking (info@artworking.ch), on high quality artist poster paper. The prints are offered for sale for a reduced price of $500 each. After the costs of printing, packaging and postage are deducted, all the money will then go to Dennis De Vries to finish and release the film 'Humilite'.
The people who have already contributed $500 or more to the 'Humilite' gofundme campaign, will automatically receive a signed print as a sign of appreciation for their generosity and support. The people who have already donated less than $500, and would like a print- can simply donate again, to make up the $500- and will receive a signed print. (Please then send me an email to reiner7720@gmail.com to confirm postage address)
For those of you who want to purchase a limited edition signed print, please contact me directly at reiner7720@gmail.com to proceed with your order. Please contact me by the end of April when I will proceed with the final print run. After this final print run, there will be no more prints made! I will fulfil my obligations to the purchaser- to create value for my work by never reproducing this painting as a print ever again. The first five prints will go to Ludo's family and very close friends. Those people who order the print early, will get the more highly valued low numbers. There will be a minimum of 34 prints produced - corresponding to Ludo’s age when he died. If there is significantly more demand than 34 prints, I will do a 50 print run.
I am a self-taught artist, who has been studying oil painting for the past three years and painting for only one year. This painting of Ludo is a long-term goal completed - and only my 9th oil painting. I am committed to my work and will continue to document this 'BASE-life' in oil.
I would like to sincerely thank:
Sebastien Woerth and Ludo's family for their continued support for this project.
Fabian Equey, a great photographer, who helped me take a little glare out of my photo for the final print.
Chris Dittmer for all his help and support, (Sorry for not using your pic - The paint needed to be still wet for the photo.)
Daniel Zobrist at Artworking, for producing the finest quality prints!
Tom Aiello for his support in allowing me to have a 'sticky' at the top of this forum.
Erin Shutes for all her friendship, kindness and advice.
Dave Barlia, for his friendship, kindness and advice.
And of course, Dennis De Vries for his dedication and hard work over the past 5+years.
Not forgetting my wife, Bernadette, for always having faith in me and encouraging me on my artistic endeavours and for missing all those days together in the sunshine while I worked in my studio. Like the film itself, this has been quite a roller-coaster!
For those in the community who loved Ludo and want to see him on the big screen where he belongs!.....For those in the community, who do not want or cannot afford a print, but would like to support the release of the film 'Humilite', please contribute directly to the 'Humilite' gofundme campaign (https://www.gofundme.com/humility2018).
Thank you to Ludo for the friendship, inspiration and memories! - It was fun to hang out with you again for those 18 hours buddy!
Thank-you to all for your love and support!
Peace.
