Re: [AntoineLaporte] BASE Eiger Mushroom

I will not reply for what is not the jump:
- in June there is probably still snow on the access, and this year is very snowy, August is the best call
- if think helidrop request a professionnal insurance, like for a movie or an advertising
- if it's accessible and you are going to Horner or BaseCafé you will find some people to go with easily
- climbing harness is better than using the BASE harness for sure
- the vertical part can be done without a harness but only if you are used to climb a bit
Some people are going up there more often than me and will probably add things or correct what I just wrote.
I think Antoine got it right. Just to add few points to your list :
1. Recommendations on who we can reach out to, to act as guide for us on these jumps (hike etc.)
-> Contact any licensed mountain guide in the area and they will know the way and be able to guide you there. Or like Antoine said, on the high season you will find people in the Horner on daily basis who are going up there.
2. Where does one stay for the Eiger? LB or somewhere closer?
-> LB is fine, if you want to get some extra sleep and have a nice experience as well you can stay on the guesthouse on the Eigergletscher train station or in Kleine Scheidegg.
3. Recommendations for accommodation?
-> See above.
4. Weather wise is early to mid June a decent time for Eiger?
-> Like Antoine said, most likely not. Still a lot of snow and most likely not accessible. August is the best time of year.
5. While we would like to Hike, would still be curious on what's the deal
with the Heli option (Cost, logistics etc.)
-> Douggs would know.
6. Do we need a climbing harness to get onto the mushroom
-> It´s the best option, of course you can do with other rigging as well (sling through the hip rings + carabiner etc)
7. Is a climbing harness needed for the vertical section on the hike that
needs to be climbed
-> Not really but if you want to secure your self on the way then yes. The climbing section can also be hiked from the side if you guide knows the way. Again, if you hire a pro mountain guide he will help you, probably belay you there and ensure you get up it in safe manner.
8. Is there anything else we should know or keep in mind when planning for this jump
-> Take first train in the morning, pick a slot when you have had dry and good weather at least 2-3days in a row. It fogs up super easily. Have your insurance in case you need to be evacuated and don´t fuck up. It´s an awesome jump.
