hey experienced jumpers!
I'm looking to spend a part of my upcoming vacation getting some jumps in and considering a location to make my first terminal jump. Got 20 slider down jumps, not bad at tracking, a couple of hundreds WS skydives, but WS base is not the plan yet.
Apart from safety concerns, would be great to hear some tips, pros and cons for every object's accessibility, (hikes, roads etc).

Unless you are an experienced mountaineer in excellent physical condition I´d advice to skip the mushroom from your list and make the call between ITW and Kjerag. Mushroom is an awesome jump and from the jump profile perspective nothing too demanding but it has 1000 vertical meter hike in exposed high alpine environment, is very prone to weather out easily and the access to the exit point (and the exit point it self) is very exposed. So I´d advice to bag multiple jumps from terminal walls which are easier to reach and provide you with less stressful environment than the mushroom before heading up there. Both ITW and Kjerag are perfect for that.

ITW. It's much cheaper, and the weather is more stable than Kjerag, so you'll get more jumps in for the money and time you spend on the trip. And there is plenty to do in the area if you aren't jumping (for weather or something) where at Kjerag you are pretty much just going to sit around.

Mushroom isn't really an appropriate choice for first terminal.

Brento

Brento is the best bet IMO. You'll likely get the most jumps as there is a bus service and the weather is pretty good. The walk is nothing so you can be fresh and focus on the jump. Youre best to either have an experienced friend to help guide you or pay someone to show you some basics. Whilst Brento is a 'safe' object theres a bit of a list of inexperienced jumpers making simple mistakes there. Unfortunately 'easy' exits sometimes have more fatalities so taking it seriously and ensuring you have some kind of instruction will help your jumping.

As for the mushroom yes its another 'easy' jump, the hikes not too bad with someone to show you the way. Remember you only get one first time at these things so you'll likely enjoy it more with some experience under your belt. Play the long game and dont be in a rush to tick stuff off is my advice!

ITW For sure. You will meet many newbies, its very cheap compared to Norway, its a great jump off point (pun intended) to use for other great Italian jumps when you're dialled in and if you wanna get your fitness up, hike from the road and up hell hill. That will sort you out after a few days! Jealous...

Real BASE jumpers go to Kjerag, hike in the rain and eat cat food.

And to treadstarter, I can promise you sitting at the top of Kjerag a Normal summerday, can be a wet and cold experience.

I'll also emphasize that the Mushroom is not very suitable for first terminal jumps. Brento and Kjerag are much more forgiving of mistakes.

Real BASE jumpers go to Romsdalen where you will find real hikes, not that weak ass pussy stroll in Kjerag!

 

You were only getting 12 seconds in a PTS at Brento?

I was getting 12 going slick and over 20 in PTS and still having plenty of alltitude to get back to main landing area. And I'm a total rookie. And as a rookie that jumped both cliffs I would recommend Brento for training. More stable weather and the hike is a joke compared to Kjerag. In november I made 10 jumps in 6 days (didn't jump 1 day). And I could totally do 1 jump more each day I was there.

Yes this is true.
OP's question should have been: "Do I do my first terminal jumps at Kathammeran, Kalskratind, or Brudeskaret?"

To which the Norwegian answer is: "All of them are nice easy hikes."

One of my friends made me walk the trollstigen one time, because it was closed to vehicle traffic and driving is for pussies anyway. But he was Russian, so I guess that's understandable.
