indicents forum
Hi all,

There were already 2 fatalities in 2018. On BJ.com I read only one, seems that the FB page is now the more leading source of intel on incidents. Just noticing and saying. I totally see the value of BJ.com because that is where beginners look first (well, they should). But most discussions on safety seem to happen on the FB page.

Re: [Ronald] indicents forum
Not everyone uses facebook. Its really hard to find some used base or skydive gear to buy without that cancer. Would love some conversation on this forum and maybe own sequence for BIRDS from facebook. Only registered users ofcourse.

Originally was Blinc, then was bj.com and now its FB. The search functions on FB are getting better but still..

Re: [Ronald] indicents forum
It's easy enough to fix that. Instead of posting a thread like this, post the incident.

Solved. :)

This forum works because people post things into it. If it's too much effort for you to post, that's cool, but it seems like you're putting forth the effort to post this thread.

Re: [Ronald] indicents forum
Hey Ronald

I still write for both blincmagazine and the Facebook page that being said the blinc magazine will always be updated but we have our own rules on not publishing the name or picture of the jumper for two weeks due to the media jumping on it and blowing it out of the water and contacting the deceased family’s before they even hear about it.

The Facebook page is updated as soon as we hear about it and this page is strictly Basejumpers only and the reasoning behind this is in case of a serious matter regarding a jump or gear that can be addressed to as many in the community as we can in a short amount of time. If you do not BASE jump then you don’t need to be involved in that page on Facebook because everything you are asking for is on blinc magazine in regards to learning from past deaths, to join the Facebook page I personally contact every person unless I know you as a base jumper. One more thing with the Facebook page is that sometimes we stop the comments being made when we see the actual thread being hijacked into bashing companies regarding the accident or against the person as we don’t believe this helps the page at all and ends up being like the majority of threads on b.j.com

In regards to B.J . Com I don’t normally write on here as much anymore mainly due keeping the other two sites up to date with the information. It normally comes out on here a few weeks later or when someone checks the blinc magazine website and writes in here. The media love checking this page to dramatise the death of the sport and I don’t want to help these scumbags one little bit.

Any questions in regards to the BFL please contact me on my Facebook via private message and if you don’t have that you can contact me on here via private message.

Re: [TomAiello] indicents forum
Hi Tom,

I will post about an incident when I was there on site (if nobody else as a witness did already). And I hope that this does not happen as we all don't want that to happen.

I just raised the matter as I see what is happening online. Not good or bad, just stating.

I really do appreciate all the work Patto is doing. Never fun, but very valuable and necessary.

Re: idnicents forum
Solid Idea!

In reply to:

I wouldn't say FB is replacing anything (it just has a different purpose)... and didn't BJ become more popular, forum wise, simply because of the DZ/BJ combo before the split?

As Tom said, "This forum works because people post things into it."

So, instead of text messages, FB pms and blacked out profile pictures... more info can be shared in that group, and then transferred here as appropriate. Might be a good idea to tell people not to post screen captures here; just provide basic info in text, until posted on blinc.

FB's search function is shit, but that doesn't appear it will matter within this format.

Likewise! Thank You!
