Squirrel Outlaw Variable Slider Question
I forgot my sail panel that Squirrel recommends you install in the middle of the small mesh slider when you do and I am packing for an Airglide Mono tracking suit jump--full terminal. With the (hybrid) panel installed the terminal tracksuit openings have still been pretty damn snappy (I use 38" Snatch PC so that may have something to do with it). So my question for you Squirrel canopy guys is--have you ever done a TS terminal jump without the sail panel? Is it gonna fuckin' break me if I go without this one time? Its a giant Airglide Mono tracking suit with probably a similar wing surface to a P3/Swift, and the manual recommends no sail panel for wingsuit but yes hybrid panel for tracking suit.

Re: [kenny123] Squirrel Outlaw Variable Slider Question
Are you flaring your suit at deployment?

Re: [kenny123] Squirrel Outlaw Variable Slider Question
I jumped an outlaw light for two trips this year in europe. About 25 terminal track jumps and 10 wing suit. Openings were fine in the pts and almost too soft in the wing suit. I didn't use the sail panel for any of the jumps. I have videos of the openings if you are interested.

I didn’t bring any panels to Europe since I was only planning on wingsuiting. I ended up borrowing a standard PF suit for a jump and used my 38 and normal packjob and pitched full track. No issues. It was a 248 OutlawLite

Yup I’ve tracked in both configurations. Nothing wrong without the sail patch, a little more comfortable with the patch in place. I actually never used it with my sausage and the opening were always nice.

TS terminal with a PF classic is probably 180 km/h when deploying.
TS terminal with a Mono and a flare is probably 140 km/h or less when deploying which is the speed for 5-6 second delay in slick.
So what is you configuration for a slick 5-6 second max delay ?

for 5-6 sec. slick, no panel. seems to work just fine.

thanks for the info. Very Helpful! Sounds like leave the panels at home.

Would love to see some of your videos out of curiosity. Thanks!

Re: [AntoineLaporte] Squirrel Outlaw Variable Slider Question
Well, if I’m jumping something lowish, like KL, and taking a 5 slick, I wouldn’t use the slider insert.

If I’m tracking and plan on pulling low and don’t mind a bit more brisk opening, I open the nose and use no slider insert.

I actually take back one of my original statements about using it with a one piece. When I was doing a lot of jumps a day off HU learning the sausage, I put the smaller break on, because I was pulling very high, and it was nice to have a more snively opening. I don’t routinely use the slider break now with the sausage, and my opening are nice.

The slider insert is another tool that can be used to tailor opening in specific condition. Let’s say you wanted to skydive the canopy while learning it. You can use the bigger break for a terminal slick opening.

To the original poster, I’d recommend trying your one piece with just the normal slider first. You can still use direct control, and yes, flare our before pulling.
