Lake Como, Italy (non-BASE)
So before heading over to the Garda area this year my lady and I are going to stop for a few days in Como. I don't know much about that area aside from having driven by it on my way to Switzerland so I was wondering if anyone here had spent any time out there.

Any recommendations as to places to stay, things to do, the best part of town to hang out in, etc. would be appreciated.

I suspect that at least one of you has tried this plan before, so I'm open to your advice.

Thanks all!

I got married there in 2000.
Had a great time, but so long ago can't offer topical advice.
If you're a cyclist, gotta go to the madonna di ghisallo.
Church / Roadie cycling museum.
There also used to be a dug-into-the-wall wine / whiskey cafe.
100's of whiskeys / apertifs / bitters available by the taster for a nominal fee.

Taking the hydrofoil across the lake to Bellagio was cool.

Have fun.

The funicular is worth the ride, just for the views.

But like Kleggo, the last time i was there was quite a long time ago (maybe 1999?).

Thank you both!

I'll be getting married there as well. Then spending a few days there with her before hijacking the trip and shifting things over towards Garda. Tongue
