Charlotte NC locals?
Hello, I'm going to be in Charlotte from 12/25-12/30. I'm bringing a rig and plan to jump some A's near where my family lives east of the city(very rural). I'll be staying in the city and would like to meet up with some locals for jumps and beers also. PM if you are up for it. Thanks

Re: [Chewycobra] Charlotte NC locals?
dear lord I hope you have more sense than the last yahoo who came through NC.
He said he was prepared to jump a low cliff.... turns out his only preparation was cooking up some BS for himself and the locals. No protective gear; sneakers; I believe an approx 300sf canopy and a 38" PC. Yeah that shit's gonna work like a charm every time on a low unforgiving cliff. Had to be talked into a PCA.
All the experience he got from that apparently made him ready for Moab... where he promptly smacked a cliff because it seems he never learned how to pack either.Crazy

I hope you are not cut from the same cloth as him. I hope you are actually well trained and prepared for BASE and can make good, sound judgements about jumping and your skill level in general. Locals everywhere deserve having smart, safe, well prepared and courteous visitors.

Re: [base570] Charlotte NC locals?
Sorry to hear about that guy...I think I have more sense than that, and I'm pretty sure I'm more prepaired too. I took the fundamentals of base course with Tom at Snake River Base back in July, and audited it again in September. I've been fairly active since then, and mainly jump freestanding antennas, but have jumped a cliff and a couple of buildings. I was going to try to make a couple antenna jumps unless I got invited along for something more interesting. My family lives east of Monroe if that's near anyone? A heads up would be nice, I don't want to cause any problems and will leave no trace. It'd be nice to have someone to jump with, but I'm used to jumping with my fiancé as groundcrew if not. Thanks
