Skyderby Feather Challenge and variable start performance
The feather challenge on Skyderby ranks WS pilots on the horizontal distance they can fly in 200m altitude. The ranking shows the amazing effect of wind and thermals with the top score now over 800m!

https://skyderby.ru/...mpetitions/9/overall

But to make the competition a little bit more about pilot, technique and suit Aleks has proposed to change the scoring to the altitude at which the pilot passes the 45 deg line.

I agree this is a better method BUT does anyone else have any other ideas?

As well as a platform to show good performance it could also be used to demonstrate the variation that occurs due to poor weather conditions and human factors - so my idea is also to include each pilots worst start too.

Something something Russian hackers :)

Exit was at 0:15, so he flew for 18 seconds in just 115 vertical meters (377ft). And that doesn't even make him first place :)

Obviously the Flysight can't work with the east facing cliffs around Brento until you get away from the wall a bit. #6 (414m) looks like the current actual high score.

I would like to see something to measure the start arc for tracking also. Maybe with the distance after 150metres or passing some degree line. 45degrees is too much for trackingsuits to tell anything about the start.

Atleast im really interested about the start itself. Often it is the sketchiest(or mentally most demanding) part when jumping new spots. Especially when going under seven second rockdrops.

Just my few cents.

I like the 45° line, it should be more accurate, and the reminder about the worst start (with the same suit).

About the FlySight trouble, as it is fully GPS based it cannot be perfect specially in the mountains.
FlySight has not been designed for BASE jumping, and the exit is where the data are the worst and less reliable. Do not forget that the data are processed by the inside software to soften the curve, and at the start it can result with a difference up to 50m between data and reality.

Re: [unclecharlie95] Skyderby Feather Challenge and variable start performance
I think we can discuss one more method - measure altitude required to get and maintain >1 GR for wingsuits and >0.5 GR for tracksuits for 3 seconds.

We also can use as a result median from 3 best jumps. i.e. if jumper has 300 400 and 800 meters median will be 400. So to have 800 it will be required to make one jump better than 800.

About adding worst - I agree.
However there is one thing displayed on image below (proposed by Yegor Orlow) - we can see if jumper can do the same more than once. And it can be a thing for judgement. If one has result that too big compared to another jumps we can "disqualify" this track until result is proved by video or another jump.

EDIT:
I'm going to add feature called flight profiles that you can find in your profile page. So we can actually compare start arcs. Example: Chris Byrnes flight profiles

We've been working on a feature for BaseBeta that is specific to start analysis. Was hoping to polish the UX a bit and add more functionality before expanding the circle of beta users, but may not get around to doing significant chunks of work before Christmas. Just opened it up to anyone who is a member so we can get more feedback before the holidays.

The feature allows you to upload tracks and record what the wind speed and wind direction were at exit; the sunlight; and which suit you used. For any track were you record a wind direction of neutral or headwind and a windspeed of 0-3mph, and for which you also specify a suit, and for which hAcc and vAcc is +/- 10ft or better for every gps row in the first 1500ft, that track will count towards an average start profile for that suit. That track will also be recorded as the best or worst track record for that suit if it is the worst or best start you have uploaded, where worst/best start is measured by the total area above your start curve. All track record data and individual tracks is sync'd to the native apps if you have one installed and is available for offline access.

For the exits where we have the laser data for the terrain profile, we also display that on the graph as well.

Something like the flight profiles on Skyderby?
