Wind River BASE
I spent a lot of time in the Wind River Range this summer. Two successful jumps, including East Temple, which, might've been the single most incredible experience of my life. Also, one of the scariest. Unpredictable winds and disconcertingly large boulders. Nobody around for miles. Have any of you guys ever been back there? I'd REALLY love to talk to someone that's done a little work out that way. Thinking about driving back to Lander one more time this year to snag maybe one or two more jumps. After my back heals. Maybe.

We have jumped Hooker, E temple and Lost temple spire, all WS..
This was back in 2010-2015
The spire was my favorite, but most difficilt access with a 9pitch 5.11c trad climb, plus i had to jump with ~20lbs of cams taped to my lega under the WS...

Its a magical place to be, I just saw the totality there a couple weeks ago..

Oh, wow. Lost Temple Spire is the detached formation just to the left of the exit on E. Temple??? Amazing. I was looking down at that, like... "I kinda wanna jump from there." Dude. You're big-walling 5.12 with a rig and a wing suit on your back, at 12,000 feet...? I thought I was the baddest mother fucker around. Clearly, I am not. I just stashed my gear at the end of deep lake. I can't believe you guys were climbing and jumping on the same route. That's the tits. The suit would definitely change-the-game in the winds, since you'd have so many more options for landing. That's crazy shit to think about. Thanks for your response, man. Really appreciated.

Yes, it is the detached spire.
A group of three of us made the climb, hauling up the gear behind us after each pitch.
We had a really strong climber leading the route.
It was intense nonetheless..
The spire climb/jump was in 2013.. we did the standard e temple exit in 2012..
The lz used to be a giant glacier but it melted and theres a lot more large boulders present now.

Re: [epibase] Wind River BASE
Fun fact east temple was jumped in the 90s.

There's also better stuff in the north where you don't have to land at 10500 feet on boulders. And get a good long flight in!

Re: [Mitchpee] Wind River BASE
Yes,
Alf Humphries made the jump in the 90's.
You are right, the landing areas are no joke, and winds can change suddenly and drastically...

Hey Mitch,

I'd be super interested to know what objective you've got in mind. I have time for one more trip to the Wind River range... prolly just another 48 hour thing... but I honestly don't have the heart to risk my life and limbs in another boulder field. So if you knew of anything that a cowboy could drop, slider-off..... and safely land in a meadow, somewhere.... I'm all ears. And yeah... I read that E. Temple was dropped in 91. That was the only bit of beta I could find online, anywhere. Glad to know I'm not the only crazy mofo that's been back there, since.

We’re you approaching east temple from lander? If so what route were you taking? I took the big sandy to east temple yesterday. Waiting for more snow to melt then will go for a jump
