Fatality Lauterbrunnen - 27 JUL 2017
Russian jumper, they say it was a multiway from there. Impacted the second ledge.

Multiway off HU...

I fail to comprehend that, perhaps the locals can elaborate on how the fuck anyone could think it's a good idea?

Not quite sure what you mean by "...how the fuck anyone could think it's a good idea?"
Letting Russians jump HU or multi ways?
I done more multi ways off HU than I can remember and ledges have never been a factor. Canopy wraps and crashing through trees is another story.
More info needed for sure but I remember about 8 years ago when another Russian went in at HU. That had everything to do with lack of ability for the environment.

Well, from my experience you need a pretty solid running start off of there, and there's not a lot room for multiple people to do it. Especially after days of rain, having only a couple of jumps on the exit before that.

i wouldn't advertise it as simple nor the safest jump in the valley, but i don't think it's a big deal at all. just my opinion.

You are trolling I would guess...

It's not a difficult jump, just deadly if you slip or don't commit to the push.

Re: [freeflaw] Fatality Lauterbrunnen - 27 JUL 2017
I hit it in 2010 no ramp, broke my arms. It's only because I'm such a legend that I was then able to get stable, track away and still deploy.
It felt like a good push on exit but obviously wasn't

I don't think it's an actual cliff, more of a hillside.

Re: [freeflaw] Fatality Lauterbrunnen - 27 JUL 2017
Wasn't sure if you were serious or satcastic? It has a very technical exit, a super positive initial profile, a large ledge, running water and power lines at the bottom. Not exactly the jump you'd take your buddy to on his 10th tracking jump.

Someone do the math, but i have a feeling its the exit with most fatalities in the valley. I would consider it reckless to classify it as "no big deal" myself, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I know of someone taking their students there.

Re: [BASE1817] Fatality Lauterbrunnen - 27 JUL 2017
Im sure someone in the SBA has that number. Id think high nose would be more just based on time the exit has been open, but HU is quickly catching up.

Re: [hjumper33] Fatality Lauterbrunnen - 27 JUL 2017
Pointless comparison if only the totals are taken. Normally it should be number of jumps divided by number of fatalities.

But it is distorted a bit by the fact the HU is mostly jumped by more experienced people then HN. That said, seems that less experienced people jump HN too. And, even experienced people can slip.

Re: [hjumper33] Fatality Lauterbrunnen - 27 JUL 2017
The nose area has had a heap of deaths over time and also La Mousse, But if you look at total time of an exit being opened HU has claimed a heap

From High Ultimate

Gary Harbird (W#30)
Mike 'Mercyless' Marko(W#29)
Franck Agier (W#51)
Tron K Torsen (W#58)

Medhi Habibi(W#132)

Re: [MBA-PATTO] Fatality Lauterbrunnen - 27 JUL 2017
Crunch data as you may, but the point is that the base jumpers need to stop smashing into rocks before or after deployment.

It is not OK to hit rocks.

Clear the ledges you jump over.

Deploy far enough away from stuff to be able to handle a malfunction.

If you are unsure of your ability to do either of these, jump elsewhere.

Re: [jtholmes] Fatality Lauterbrunnen - 27 JUL 2017
Perceived status of having jump x done is what it is. As if someone gives a fuck about the gazillionth video from HU. If you track past Lisa's house, cool, but its been done by two dozen jumpers already too.

certainly not a "simple site", nor as you say, not the safest.
but
nice track!
