Un accident mortel de wingsuit s'est produit jeudi en fin de matinée en Haute-Savoie. Un Suisse de 30 ans qui venait de s'élancer de l'Aiguille de Varan a fait «une erreur d'appréciation de son itinéraire», selon des propos du Peloton de gendarmerie de haute montagne (PGHM) de Chamonix, relayés par «Le Parisien».

Cet adepte de sensations fortes, qui comptait des centaines de sauts à son actif, était accompagné par deux personnes. Il n'aurait pas réussi à ouvrir son parachute pour une raison indéterminée, précise LCI.

The recent accident at Varan unfortunately had an outside witness: Marie, the guardian's helper, who was present at the time of the accident. She has seen the scene and is now experiencing difficult times. To help overcome this, it would be nice to warn the shelter if you are planning to fly to the nearby wing, either by going to the shelter on the ascent or by phoning before jumping (refuge phone: 04 50 93 61 98). This so she can choose to look at your passage or not.

Thank you for it, and do not hesitate to relay this info widely.

The better good thing to say should be "stop flying over the refuge of Varan" and all flyby close public. There are many people there, hikers, family, restaurant...

An other point, no wingsuiter arrives over the refuge of Varan by unfortune, this is a choise to fly it since the begening. This line needs a fast start and very good glide, line the more on left, and it is always time on begening of the slope to escape safely by the right side.

I think that with all the problems in Chamonix with all spots closed around, and to respect other people which are enjoying being in nature too and in these marvelous mountains, that wingsuiters which are flyby must be more responsible and adult in their attitude. Flying at 5m over the table of a restaurant is not a "funny" game.

What is the point? Why paragliders have rules but that wingsuiters don't care?

And now a young girl is traumatized by what she saw... It could have been more dramatic, but it is enough because this man died too, and leaving his loved ones in pain. And It is useless.

I set foot in the dish, not for pleasure. Now to each one to take himself in charge.
