Body position during subterminal deployment and opening shock
My openings feel much softer when I am head high during my sub terminal deployments then when I am flat. Why is this?

Re: [bedrok] Body position during subterminal deployment and opening shock
Most of the feeling of a "hard" opening is the rapid transition of your body from a flat (or head low) body position to a head high (under canopy) position. The more your body gets "snapped" around into position, the "harder" the opening feels, if all else is equal.

So what you're experiencing is totally normal.

Re: [TomAiello] Body position during subterminal deployment and opening shock
I can visibly tell someone who is head low had a hard opening just by watching it open and listening to the way that it sounded. I can't imagine that would be from them swinging around in the harness.

Question asked and answered. Unless your canopy is a spiteful intelligent being and opens hard when you're headlow and not able to see it open just to be mean.
