Non-Fatal Incident Gudvangen, Norway, 2017-06-28
According to Dagbladet a jumper died at Gudvangen today.
There's not much info, but apparently he was not a norwegian citizen.

edit: I split this thread to divide discussion of two incidents, one fatal and one non-fatal that occurred in succession and in close geographic proximity. This first post gives a media link reporting on the fatal incident, but is still the header for discussion of the other incident. That's because of how I split the threads, and is not the fault of the original poster. I have copied this post into the other thread as well. ~TA

There has been a second incident this evening in the same area. Norwegian news media reports the person has been lifted by rescue helicopter to hospital. Condition of the jumper is unknown.

So two incidents, not related, in close viscinity but in different locations today. One fatality and one unknownUnsure

Hi I was jumping with the second incident, we jumped Gudvangen first and decided to repack and do Flåm because shorter, easier hike.
As you know, Heat, a tradional 4 to 5 second slider up jump.
I exited first and lande and turned to watch my friend exit, missed his exit but saw his canopy facing the wall, he was a good distance from the wall and if it was a simple 180 he had plenty of time to turn but unfortunately he had line twists and hit the wall about 100 meters from exit (wall is 250 m ), canopy reinflated once and then struck the wall a second time and collapsed and never reinflated with jumper sliding down and impacting at the base of the wall.
Jumper was wearing body armor including back shield, and is conservative, experienced, and very current.
Multiple serious injuries mostly on right side, but now in stable condition in Bergen undergoing surgery for a badly fractured pelvis.
Unfortunately rescue helicopters were tied up at Gudvangen and response time was slower than normal for Norway.
The Norwegian Air Ambulance and Air rescue are absolutely amazing, and I can't say enough good things about them.
Regards, B.

Re: [Akegata] Gudvangen, Norway, 2017-06-28 Non-fatal
I have split this thread into two, because there are two incidents being discussed in it.

PLEASE USE THIS HALF OF THE THREAD TO DISCUSS THE NON-FATAL INCIDENT.

Re: [StealthyB] Gudvangen, Norway, 2017-06-28
I'm sorry to hear about this one and I really hope the injured jumper is able to heal up quickly and fully. I would be interested in hearing about the delay and wx conditions and any possible contributing factors to the off heading when the jumper is healed and ready and willing to provide a first person account. It seems like this incident could have some similarities to the one I posted earlier this year, and a comparative analysis could highlight trends that may or may not be useful in helping people out there make decisions about similar jumps. Or maybe the only thing to be learned is that shit luck doesn't care how many or how few jumps you have. In any case, get well soon and props to the Norwegian rescue services!
