Highly recommend the lease program through Renault. Used to be through a company called "idea merge" but not sure if it's still called that.

Maybe a bit more expensive than buying a car, but you get a brand new vehicle with insurance included and a warantee that covers everything for every driver. For three months it's a good deal if there are any left.

Look at the kangoo if you want a van. That is what BGD did for years.

Yup, kangoo is the shit. Lived in one for 2 months in 2013. 50 mpg, sleeps 1, and got 11 people to the top of the Aguille rouge road. That's usually the first one to get sold out of leases, so look soon.

I've seen the actually buying thing go good and bad. It seems like much more of a hassle if you want to sell after, and I know more than 1 person that had spent a lot of time stranded/broken down/spending more than they would have renting on repairs.

the leases are better and better deals the longer you have them, so 3 months will probably be a pretty good deal.

Start with that. I just googled Renault short term lease. They will deliver one to a lot of different places, but always cheaper if you pick up and drop off in France.

I bought a 2012 ford transit with low KM's for 6000 euro in Germany last year. Many older cheaper models available. In Germany you can get 3 month export plates and insurance from a used car dealer. If you want 2 year German plates you have to "live there". An Address and small paperwork at the local police station will do. PM for more info. Enjoy

All this is RAD info! Is there a place where Backpackers sell their vans? I went to NZ and it was super easy to buy an older camper van and re sell.. But, all info is appreciated!!

Rad, yah I have nothing but positive personal experiences, and havent really heard of a bad one from anyone. You can beat the shit out of it, and if something breaks, any renault dealer can fix it. I even known someone who had to get a new car when they tore a hole in the oil pan.
