tension knot - 26.5. high nose
a tension knot nearly killed me. i was slowed down by trees and than was falling again for 10-20 meters. when i saw the ground coming i wasn't sure if it's the last what i'll see in this life. my guardian angel saved me again. i impacted on soft ground close to rocks. the pain was horrible but at the same time i was happy to be alive and feel my whole body.

i have one broken rib a broken breastbone and my back is broken at one part. luckily i will fully recover.

when i looked up and see the knot i decided not to use the line release. afterwards i wasn't sure if this decision was right until i saw the video again. otherwise the video shows that i just realised the breaks instead of pull them completely down. in the moment i thought i've done it right.

Re: [heavy] tension knot - 26.5. high nose
Glad you aren't dead. Tension knots are scary. Looks like it might have been a particularly hard opening, so maybe tail pocket Velcro opening/line dump as a cause. Either way, tension knots are scary.

i'm really unhappy about my reaction... so many things to do that could had clear the knot and i just waisted seconds with trying to steer against the spin with the riser. just luck that i'm alive and will fully recover.

on the subject of tension knots I'd like to remind everyone to remove all twists from your control lines every pack job. If you have twisted lines it's a really good potential starting point for knot.

even if you have a look at your control lines... be ready to clear a knot. i take care not to twist my control lines and check it before every packjob. i thought i'm ready for all the shit that will come someday... but i wasn't.

Don't feel too bad about it. There are lots of great theories on how to "clear" a tension knot, but in reality they aren't usually very effective. And steering against the spin is important too, level wing and all that.

and maybe including tension knot issues into your emergency procedures might be worth an idea ...
but I guess this is on your to-do list for the future ..

i already had this in my emergency procedures... but definitely not well enough to handle it with panic.
