TWIN FALLS -- A man who was trapped on a cliff face after leaping from the Perrine Bridge with a parachute Tuesday evening is safe.
Rescue crews and a rappel team worked for hours to reach the BASE jumper, who was stranded below the bridge.
Kayakers in the area heard someone screaming screaming for help, and called 911 at about 7 p.m. Rescue crews and a rappel team were able to reach the man just before 11 p.m.
The BASE jumper was not hurt, dispatchers say.
The rescue attempts blocked traffic on the bridge in both directions Tuesday evening.
The Perrine Bridge is a popular destination for BASE jumpers, in part because parachutists are not required to get a permit before leaping from the structure.
Sounds like someone had a safe jump, but got stuck on the hike out?
Update: Not a jumper.
