Someone you've never heard of quietly with no video... followed several months later by someone with tons of sponsors and a discovery channel special talking about how its the most amazing impressive thing in history.

Yeah, like that project will ever get off the ground. Laugh

I do like how they have already included jumpers in their design sketches. Dirty high pulling jumpers under rounds but still...

So I guess the asteroid to which it is tethered will be geosynchronous orbit. Otherwise, it's going to wander around and whack into all kinds of tall things.

And how will they keep it from oscillating? It's going to make a lot of people sea sick.

How do they get people and goods up to it?

How much for a lift ticket?

This 'concept' is just plain stupid. Right up there with the elevator to the moon.

Re: Bad Ideas
In 2005 right before BASE, researching weather balloons,
eventually got linked up with a guy out of Texas who had a
zany idea called: LIFTERS, which was a series of balloons
which was supposed to reach lower space...

Eventually I was able to convince him that differences in
wind speeds at different altitudes would cause havoc.

Had another guy who had never once tracked in a what
We would call a Straight Line, wanted to install some
controls on a suit to make it turn left or right...

Eventually I was able to convince him that Occam was
right and steering your body by leaning was much more
efficient than building some type of expensive system.
