Has something happened to the Blinc fatality list? Tried checking it for a couple days now and it just goes to the forum.

Googling it, it wouldn't come up for me, but clicking through the site I could get to it. Also using that direct link got me to it. It looks like the reformatted it.

Re: [Anachronist] Blinc
The webpage has had a rebuild and took longer then what was anticipated..

At this time we are waiting for the IT geeks to re-upload the Base stats but the BFL should be back online now..

Maybe try deleting the cookies you have saved for that website and start again by log out and in if you are a member..

There is also a Facebook BFL page now with only base jumpers admitted as members on the page..

Thank you for making this clear. 10 years ago, i was part of the members of this website, but every time, if i will login now this page say: Give in your old email and we send your a new password, but every time if i do this, no answer is in my email postbox.

Is it because i threatened a moderator with "Beulen" time ago...

I wish to excuse this :(

Hey waldschrat,

Mick Knutson looks after the moderation of the site, I look after the base fatality list and fatality stats on his site for all base jumpers

I don't see how you should be neglected from viewing the base fatality list even as a non member

If you want to get that fixed up contact mick and explain I am sure it's just as simple as checking your junk mail or redoing a new membership mate

I am migrating to a new server, and upgrading the Wiki, and the new software has completely changed the security permissions, and is a real PITA... So, I am sorry that it has taken longer than I want to perform the upgrade, but I have been working for weeks now trying to get the permissions correct. Must have invested 150++ hours and still going.

Hope that everything is fixed very soon.

No wonder law enforcers (inc nps) love facebook. It makes their work so much easier...

If you're going to have a "private" forum, you need to do it on a much more obscure server. That way, only the spooks see it, and they don't care about BASE jumpers.

Its a list of people that have died, what are the law enforcers going to get from it?

If ya that worried on here about them then I hope your writing
On this website with a VPN because your IP address is attached to this page every time you log on.

But that's none of my business Smile

The FB page is ONLY to post BFL entries for information only.

Can you PM me here, or on BLiNC, your userid as I am trying to track down someone that is getting blocked to verify the permissions.

Plus, I need to verify the email is working again. I thought it was, but obviously not :-(

MBAPatto, Yes, I am on a vpn...and they can still follow that through, but they wouldn't bother for the kinds of thing I was thinking about. Anyway, you're on the right track...note that posting on here only confirms interest in BASE, while membership that requires confirmation that you jump is different. It doesn't mean you jump illegally, just confirms that you jump or have jumped. Leave no trace, and you reduce your liberty risk. Of course, I'd never recommend that anyone jump illegally Wink

Dadsy, obviously they're not interested in the list, but some of them might be interested in the membership...albeit not in every country.

Here's a "hypothetical": Two people were busted for jumping a building. A third person was on cctv, but got away. The two already busted "don't know the other jumper". Cops want to find out who the third jumper is. They want a short list...these guys have cell phones, probably with a lot of contacts. Any list of confirmed BASE jumpers might help them cross reference names to a short list without much effort... or maybe I'm just more conservative about digital footprint than other people. YMMV.

I work with a state police detective. that's exactly what they do, and then some. Scary what they can (& do) do.

Here is an incident I heard.
Jumpers were travelling in a rental car to a BASEsite, CCTV captured the plate numbers and the computer threw up a red flag of the renter. Police stopped them before they could reach the BASEsite and told them to go away. They Police) knew what they (Jumpers) were upto.
Take care,

It wasn´t in USA:

Re: [Colm] Blinc
I have a friend who had his entire internet "signature" (Facebook, vimeo, youtube, forums, etc) entered into evidence in federal court. He (and another jumper) had denied jumping on a load that went badly, and the US Prosecutor used the things they had posted on the internet to establish a "pattern" of BASE jumping, to support his circumstantial case that they were lying to the police and that they _had_ in fact been jumping.

Neither of them had ever posted anything about any illegal jumps, but it still came back to haunt them.

Good point Tom.
Another point.
Where is the clause in facebook that one must post only honest stuff? Or is it an internet law?
