These kind of jumps (from paraglider) are very popular and common in coast of Persian Gulf , south of Iran .
want to know that can we mention these jumps as Base jump ?

Re: [iranianjumper] The cool kids go paragliding..
Paraglider jumps are considered skydives since a paraglider is not a fixed object. In the first days of BASE in 78 when Carl Boenish did some "unauthorized" filming in Yosemite off of Half Dome, a guy I think was Rich Piccalilli, a well known RW jumper took a big hang glider off with 2 jumpers attached. They flew out over the valley and the jumpers cut away and opened after almost getting a 2 way after one's cutaway device failed and he took about 3 seconds more than the first jumper so he had to track to get down. Cool shit for back then.

Was disappointed not to see you bust out a Roland 808 and start jamming. Next one needs more Rambo and less of your ugly mug. Also you SAT like a girl, ya gotta go balls deep, dudemanbro. 7/10

It was Rich Piccirilli, and he is still jumping and flying. Saw him last weekend at Perris at the Pat Works memorial shindig. Here's a not-too-old link to some of the stuff he's doing these days..

And yes, Iranian Jumper, if it's a free flying aircraft it's a skydive, and there is continuing debate about whether a tethered hot air balloon counts as an aircraft or a fixed object.

I think Rich P jumped with Jerry Bird's Allstars ten man team but I could be wrong. He was a good early relative worker like others Carl recruited for the early El Cap jumps in 78 and other objects.

Rich P came to Bridge Day '83. From memory watching Carl's movies I think Rich did a solo jump, cutting away from his Hang Glider from another desert ridge location, before doing the Yosemite project? Also on the Yosemite flight/jump was hang glider pilot, skydiver & rigger Jim Handbury. I remember reading Carl's private account of that first tangle with NPS. Sign of things to come...
