This isnt base related but given most base jumpers have skydived, they may be familiar with icarus canopies (nz aerosports). The founder, jyro passed away in the USA on Sat (NZ) time. Anyone who met him would have put him in the 'unique' category. Brilliant, funny, unorthodox and an incredibly talented jumper in his day. He was also a friend and team mate for a few Nationals. He did a couple of basejumps, one from our local harbour bridge, and another from a very hi bridge in Austria about 25yrs ago. Catcha on the flip side buddy.....

Sad news.

What happened? The last time I saw him he was looking a little rough but I wasn't aware that he was that sick.

I believe he died from liver failure. He was waiting for a transplant.

Jyro comes from "jump your ring off". His real name was Paul Martyn.
