Work with National Park for event
Hey dudes and dudettes,

Just out of curiosity does any one know or have heard of a group or individual ( In recent years, not way back when) That have ever worked alongside the National Park services to organize an event?

Essentially I know of a super sweet location that I think would be super neat to host an event at ( because it's a beautiful and tasty object) And trying to gather info on whether or not people have done similar things ( information gathering to approach the Parks service with to say " hey look at exhibit x, y and z that did this and how they benefit from it)

Option 2 is i'm just gonna bandit crank it and make a sweet video.

Cheers fuckers.

With the whole National Parks "going rouge" right now and rebelling against the government along with loosing a bunch of funding, now could be the time for change in more than just getting one event.

Maybe organizing something like the Yosemite Facelift that climbers have? Helping out at the parks with picking up litter and trail maintenance and discussing our environmental impact (half that of a climber or hiker, we only use the trail going one way) and showing that we care and aren't just a bunch of idiots hucking ourselves off stuff?

If there's ever been a good time for that, I'd say it's now. A time where rangers are standing up against the government and doing what they think is right, which is probably led by a younger, more openminded generation of rangers. Maybe we can show our support for their cause and they can see our side of thing and we can finally be able to pursue human flight in peace? Or maybe I'm just dreaming...

Although I should have specified I was referring to Canadian National Park services, I think you might be on to something. Perhaps a united front from both countries combining our passion for a positive change.

Maybe an organized clean up on behalf of the BASE community..without a jump, to show good intention.

I definitely think like many other industries, we will start to see new generations governing these sorts of things and I agree that it's going to start leading to changes.

Ahh I should have realized that when I looked at the flag on your profile.. Moderators, feel free to split this into a new thread if you feel like it.

But yeah, I was thinking just cleanup style stuff, no jumping. Working with the parks to establish a good connection with the new generation of rangers as the older ones who still hold grudges are starting to fade away. Getting news to cover it and showing BASE in a good light.

As it was put to me by several superintendents of several national parks...

National parks are supposed to be a place of beauty and solitude. A place where people can enjoy uninterrupted connections with nature and a landscape unchanged to provide future opportunities to all generations for being outside.

Well we all know the reality and this statement aren't quite hand in hand but the idea is there.

I guess the real question is why do you feel you want to do an event in national parks? Is it something that's going to benefit them or will it just be a look at me circus show that will likely have an injury or death like carnage at most events nowadays?

There's a lot of variation between Superintendents, though, and their appointments can be effected a lot by changes in the executive branch.

I bet the Trump administration will lead to more "pro-business" superintendents. And the park units that are more accustomed to working with tourism/guiding are a good place to start. New River Gorge would be idea except that there are a lot of other stakeholders (county, city, state, highway department, etc) to satisfy.

My reasoning to want and do this, A) I grew up in this area and it's something I personally wanted to do since I was a kid,
B) I know It would boost tourism to that area which would greatly benefit the smaller towns surrounding the area.

Overall it's more for personal gain than anything else, but i still think it would be cool if it was approached professionally with a positive spotlight on it and for the communities to potentially benefit from it, then to leave no trace but at the same time having to keep something so awesome so secretive.
