Re: [GreenMachine] Florida Base jump from 22nd stealth floor

Tim, you know newer jumpers tend to over fly their wings.
Tom. I agree. That's definitely a trend especially with lower time jumpers. Skydives matter and so does understanding how to control a canopy beyond, left turn right turn stop.
Controlling a canopy with risers after it opens on heading is a poor choice unless you're high above the ground and doing it for practice. The video in this thread is a prime example of why getting on the toggles quickly and doing a flat turn is important.
22nd floor is probably 250 feet. The canopy is open easily 100 feet off the ground. He likely wasted 50 - 60- feet and lost at least 5 seconds of canopy time with the riser stall turn. He was flying backwards before he let up. Clearing the brakes, letting up, then cramming on the brakes wasted the rest of it.
When he cleared the brakes out of the stall, the canopy was in front of him and he was pointed at the ground. That had to hurt.
I would highly suggest wearing crash gear for anyone jumping stuff like that but don't see it being used nearly as often as when I jumped heavily.
His game plan wasn't very well thought out so I hope he wasn't hurt too bad.
