Re: [Huck] Another SL Idea
i prefer figure eight knot and loop in the bridle. (slightly easier to untie than an overhand knot)

mainly because i like to adjust the length and keep the bridle as short as possible between the pin and the object, which also helps me control the PC.

i've never damaged a bridle from a static line where i felt it needed to be replaced. sure, there have been some burn marks, but nothing significant. also, to prevent that in the past i would carry a rapide link that either stayed attached to a belt loop on my jumping pants, or the stash bag. always there, never notice it.

but again, doesn't even matter. a bridle is like 5 dollars. :) or maybe 20 if you buy it form the mfr.

anyway, not a bad idea.... i personally just don't like full bridle length static lines.

Im alway looking for the simpliest way to alternate between freefall and SL.
I got tired of tying knots in bridle (damage from SL and knots.Just a hassle)
Tired of having to carry parts to SL (dacron loops or rapide link)
I dont use a CWY (too complex and who wants to carry all that with you)

So Simple Static line bridle. Ive only got 5 jumps on this one 3- freefall and 2 SL. Seems simple and solid. Just thought I would get opinions.

Is the S/L attachment point on the end of the bridle? That would be my concern if that's the case (shock loading).

I never had any problem throwing a quick figure-8 on a bite in my bridle. When I put it in the appropriate spot (closer to the pins than the end with enough space to move and turn without getting close to popping a pin) and snug the knot nice and tight, I've seen extremely minimal wear. But I do agree, it would be nice if there was a nice multipurpose bridle that was very elegant/simple and allowed easy S/L hookup without any modification.

Re: [Huck] Another SL Idea
hehe, that's all valid. :)

that could work quite well for people in similar circumstances. but generally i approach things much differently. so there will be many opinions on this in between. for your approach, i agree it makes sense and seems like a great idea.

Re: [Huck] Another SL Idea
Just clarifying, you're tying break cord (or tape or trash bags) through the black loop directly to the anchor? The only concern I had testing a static line attachment that close to the pilot chute attachment point was a premature break followed by the CWY system entangling with the pilot chute, but if I understand your system correctly that wouldn't apply.

Re: [Huck] Another SL Idea
For your purposes, I think it might be useful to put some break cord in the pouch behind the mud flap, that way it's impossible to forget to bring some with you on an object you intend to freefall. Maybe put it in a baggy so it can't get wet though.
