Re: [blitzkrieg] The Lynx
What is the difference between the Lynx and the Lobo? In which situations would one be preferred over another? Their marketing does not make this clear.

Re: [Heat] The Lynx
I have been jumping it all summer both slider up and down. Its been the best all around canopy Ive jumped so far. While I love my LOBO, the Lynx has a nose profile that is rolled slightly less which allows for faster pressurization, while still giving you more performance in areas of flight such as flare. I like the toggle pressure most because it is slightly positive which allows me to feel feedback while turning like in a skydiving canopy. The advantage is that when you really give positive toggle pressure you don't feel that spongy sensation and the turn radius is smooth with great recovery. Its the hybrid of the Flik II and LOBO in a nutshell. If you are primarily doing low stuff with uber tight landing areas then the FLIK II is probably your game and if your primarily doing slider up and high alpine stuff then you are probably wanting a LOBO . The LYNX is suited well for all situations with characteristics of both. Hope I explained this well.

Favorite apex canopy or is that all you use? Have you jumped other manufactures canopies?

Re: [Heat] The Lynx
Its my favorite all around canopy and I say that having a LOBO as well. The LOBO is amazing but I find that the Lynx is a bit more docile which I appreciate quite a bit when the situation calls for that. I jumped the Flik II and enjoyed it but was immediately impressed by the LYNX again primarily refreshed by the toggle response and smooth recovery. I started with the original FLIK 10 years ago then was jumping Atair for several years. The TROLL, OSP, and previous Trango series were good canopies but I found myself right back where I started when I bought my LOBO in early 2015. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to start jumping the LYNX in addition and couldnt be happier. I have also jumped Blackjacks a fair amount in the past but cannot speak for any other canopies aside from those mentioned.

Good information, what wing loading's do you have with the Lobo and Lynx?

Pretty much everything that Chris is saying above mirrors my experiences with it so far...

Re: [Heat] The Lynx
I currently load them at a 1.5
I have both LOBO 260 and LYNX 260

Did you mean 1.5? That's more a skydiving WL and would put you at 390lbs weight kitted up!

he probably divided his canopy by his weight instead of the other way around or just does not know how to calculate his wing loading. Either way discredits his opinions a little bit to me.

Re: [wasatchrider] The Lynx
Lol I mean almost a .7 wing loading. Thats what I get for trying to type in the car and doing quick math.

Re: [Heat] The Lynx
Division should not be a prerequisite :) Assuming I was 390 lbs should have been kinda obvious lol. I dont know any 390 jumpers

Re: [treljumper] The Lynx
yeah no big deal figured

Re: [Heat] The Lynx
That would have made me the largest base jumper in history. Like a white rhino or possibly a unicorn

Re: [treljumper] The Lynx
no, a black 390 lb base jumper would be a true unicorn.

Re: [Heat] The Lynx
in case anyone really gives a shit about my opinion...

i have drafted a brief review of the Lynx and the Flik II which i was jumping in a side by side comparison over the last few weeks. the Flik II review is up in the gear section, and i will post the Lynx feedback as soon as it is added to the canopy list there.

in summary, the Lynx is an awesome all around canopy, and i was jumping an ultralight version. positive snappy openings with good Flik-like pressurization, but also above average glide and natural swoopy abilities (much like the seven/feather wing) and very strong flare power (which also lends its ability to solid slow flight)

i am unsponsored and own or have owned many canopies on the market, i'm continually trying to make my own unbiased comparisons and am happy to answer specific questions. this is of course all my personal opinion which i have a lot of. Tongue any specific questions i can answer i'll add to my review when posted.

cheers!
