most epic aborts
Poor conditions and poor judgment at the exit point, are noteworthy factors in at least some of the fatalities this year. Having a low threshold for aborting can save a life. What is the most effort you've put into jumping, only to decide in the end, to walk off or climb back down?

I have brought a rig to Antarctica and back without using it. No crazy story, just not enough time or good weather windows. Can anyone beat that? Smile

What's your story?

Re: [Colm] most epic aborts
I got a rig to an exit point on an active building, which involved sneaking it through security (including metal detectors), and then aborted for wind and had to sneak the rig back out through the same security.

Jump #12
This turned out to be my First:
-Static Line
-Urban Jump
-Crane
-Solo

I climbed the crane once without a rig to scope things out.
I went back six more times with a rig and each time it was
either winds or my green Va-jay-jay that kept me from
jumping off. Seventh time I climbed up with a guy who
at the time was a more experienced BASE jumper. He
did not like the landing area, so we both climbed down.
I went back the following night, 8th time to climb up
turned out to the be the only time I got to jump her.

Still one of my most rewarding jumps ever!! Cool

Coming down wet rocks etc is not nice but we live and fly another day. This is a very important part of big wall jumping. Be prepared.
