Recovery mission, Sunndalen, Norway 08.11.2016
There has been an on going rescue mission for a base jumper on the mountain Haarstadnebba in the Sunndal area. Police was notified yesterday when one of two jumpers went missing. The jumper has been located at ca 1200 meters, his condition is still unknown. The mission is incredible difficult due to the location of the jumper, bad weather and recent snowfalls in the high mountains. As of late last night the mission is on a hold - better weather conditions are needed and depending on the weather, it might take all weekend.... As of now this is still seen as a rescue, not recovery of a body.

I wish him/her luck being stuck at that height with an injury or not and staying overnight or 2 would be hard..

I am sending good vibes to whoever this is..

I have been watching this unfold and hoping to hear the best news

Re: [MBA-PATTO] Rescue mission, Sunndalen, Norway 08.11.2016
The jumper is now presumed to be dead by rescuers and police, although this has yet to be confirmed as they have not reached the jumper yet. The recovery mission is still ongoing, but extremely demanding due to weather and location.

Name and nationality has not been made official as family of the jumper has not been reached and notified yet, but according to the police it is a foreigner, i.e. not norwegian.

Sadly, this is shaping up to be another fatalityUnsure

It has been a rough couple of weeks for our sport lately, yet again... I really hope this causes everyone to pause for a moment and take a good hard look at what they are doing and how it affects others. BASE is in so many ways the ultimate expression of freedom, but it comes with responsibilities!
Please take a moment and think about your family and friends before you continue on this ultimate endevour of ego and thrill seeking.

Please take a moment and think about the heroes that are out there RIGHT NOW, trying to save our friends and taking immense risk themselves in a harsh and unforgiving environment!

Please slow down

Very well said Heat, thank you for putting it in those words. Over the past few years something along these lines is said every year. It really is getting to be hard to accept this behavior in BASE. It's easy to say: seek out a mentor/FJC, don't do that it's too risky, think before you jump, follow standard progression, etc, etc, etc but we all know that's never going to happen for ALL. Some will just do what they "think" is right and end up 6 ft under, and sadly these folks will have the support of their jump buddies. It is what it is......

I know these forums are silly, stupid, entertaining fun, way to waste time, and just plain "worthless", however, I know there are new jumpers and just interested seekers out there who do read these fucked-up forums, so I urge those of you who fall into this category...Please read the statement below from Heat.

I'm tired of reading about friends going in. Please respect this dangerous yet totally un-regulated activity.
