Re: [94supraturbo] raven 218
Hi Greg!

What im going to choose to pull out of that flaming garbage heap is that youre wondering why your two similarly sized canopies pack up with seemingly different shaped sizes of flakes (3 small folds). Since you failed to identify what the other canopy is, I will assume it is a seven cell BASE canopy of some sort. Next time you have both canopies unpacked, lay them on top of one another, or side by side if you wish. Youll probably notice that they are not the same shape. Im going to save the technical terms like chord and span for later people to post, as I used up most of my energy for the day figuring out what the fuck you were saying in the first place.

Lol sorry about not saying what the other canopy was it is a raven 2 also. Now could it be the other raven 2 with smaller flakes has been trimmed or something. I'm using same pack method and i put them side by side and one is somewhat bigger and they are both raven 218. even laid out the raven with small flakes is more square then other. And yes a difference in my ace 240 vs a raven no need to figure out why those two are different I can pretty much figure that one out buddy. This is about two raven 218 that are different nothing to do with base vs skydiving reserve canopy

Is it a Raven 2 or a Raven II? Can you figure that one out buddy? Who told you they were Raven 218's? Have you verified this looking at the label under the tailpocket? And if you're using an Ace 240, why aren't you using a Raven III?

Yes buddy row it's a ll and yes I still have the label after they took them off and put tailpocket on. The one I had the tailpocket put on I still have label they took off the other I bought from a place that done work they still had label. Not using a 3 because I don't weight jack and it works my 240 is big but that's what came with rig and it works didt know joining and asking a question would turn into a big sarcastic problem just a simple question one that needs no experience bullying easy just to say no clue have some blow JO look at it and tell you

Are you saying that you have one label, but not both of them? I'm just trying to confirm exactly what you mean.

Sometimes I like to be a sarcastic asshole, but the "2" "II" distinction is a very legitimate question. They indicate Ravens and Super Ravens respectively.

Bullying? You missed out on the old Outtabounz days. I miss that guy :(

Try asking on DZ.com, I'm sure some old skyjumper will know. They're probably not both Raven IIs.

Sorry about the mangina.

I have both labels. Maybe they gave me a diffrent chute with a raven ll label they swore it was a raven ll maybe it's a chopped up shade tree job chute. thought there might of been something to do with model number but yeah thanks I will go and ask there about the mystery chute thanks

Something that may help distinguish a Raven from a Super Raven may be the end logo panels.

"Super Raven are easily distinguished by their Red end cell logo panels from the earlier Ravens." - Which was detailed in a service bulletin for Ravens and bikini sliders a long while back.

Also take a look at the date of manufacture after march 10 1988 - it will be a super raven or a later series by precision.

"When Precision started Raven production in 1983, they only made the Raven #-a model. Since they opened rather slowly, most Raven #-as were retro-fitted with bikini sliders to become Raven #-b.
Raven #-c are rare.

The first major re-design was the Super Raven #-d series.
Since then Precision has made minor improvements that resulted in e,f,g,h,j and k series.

The Raven Dash M was a major re-design that introduced spanwise construction on the bottom skin, etc.

Also all Ravens smaller than 180 square feet are referred to as "Micro Ravens."

To further confuse the issue, Precision just released their R-MAX series of reserves which have a new airfoil and more construction refinements. "
