Places in New Zealand?
Going to New Zealand in March. Is it worth taking my rig? Legality there? Going to be around Paihia. Don't know anyone or any objects but would like to jump there if it's possible.

Thank you for those who contacted me with info. Looks like it will be worthless to change plans and find a spearfishing charter on the South Island.

Base is crap in that part of the country. If you scuba dive, hit the Poor Knights, cousteau rated it one of the best dive sites globally. Its a marine reserve so no taking food. Paihia and Bay of islands is super svenic over summer but busy. Maybe visit the coromandel if you have time. Central north island plateau is worth a look, tongariro crossing. Couple of low sd jumps there. Probably 7 hrs from paihia.

Free diver mostly. Going after big pelagics to spear. Bay of islands said they don't even let people do fun jumps. Lame. Trying to find dive sites on South Island so I can do it all.

Shit just realized my other message said worthless. Meant worth while to change plans.

Try Skydive Ballistic Blondes. They operate near there and they like fun jumpers. (last time i looked they had DZ at both Whangarei and Piahia)
