I have 2 round canopies. I was going to keep one and donate one. Was going to keep the one better suited for a BASE jump. Which would you choose and why?

~~First one is a Pioneer K-XX. DOM 1981. From my first skydiving rig. It saved my life twice so I'm a bit partial to this one.

~~Second one is a Phantom 22. DOM 1988

I've BASE jumped both of the canopies that you mentioned quite a bit in the past. I found that the K-20 opened at the same altitude more consistently than the Phantom 22. The Phantom worked fine, but sometimes it would open faster or slower depending on how it felt that day, or if a unicorn farted upwind at the same time you jumped. I recommend not using a round much lower than 450 feet. We were jumping them pretty regularly from 300' into the water until 2 of us streamered in one week...possibly from pulling stupid low

You'll struggle to find anyone that has a clue on here :-)

how much you weigh ? . For a hard ground landing both 20 & 22 are going to be a tough PLF .

I have jumped both over water with most of them taking it respectively low . Handsdown, I prefer the k-xx for Fast snappy, same reliable opening everytime you toss the PC .

I think there are plenty of people, for instance the two posters before and after your post seem to have some knowledge.

I weigh about 155lbs. I have 2 jumps on the K-XX . The PLF's weren't that bad but I was about 15-20lbs lighter! I don't plan on doing any jumps onto land anyway so landing shouldn't be an issue.
