Stream first impressions
I got a chance to do about 20 jumps on a stream over the last week and thought I would post some first impressions and see if anyone has questions about the rig.

This is not intended to be anti-any other rig or a brand war, and I think there really isnt a bad lightweight rig on the market. I have owned a razor (briefly) and two profiles prior to this setup.

The first thing you notice about the container is that its just a nice looking rig. Very long which was not surprising, but extremely slender appearing. I never bought squirrels previous container in part because I found its asthetics to be very...functional, but this rig is damn good looking. The molded foam back pad is very comfortable, and does look really nice. The real world weight test (container, 230 ibex, 38inch pilot chute everything packed) came in at 10.8lbs (4.9kg for those that werent lucky enough to be born in the home of big macs and donald trump).

The leg straps are very comfortable for how lightweight and minimalist they are. I like the small lightweight buckle for the chest strap, but was really happy to see the leg straps are now wider but still lightweight, and have the same ease of adjustment of any other rig. Im not a huge fan of not having a tuck tab over the risers on top, but this didnt really prove to be of any issue, and seems to be the same as the hybrid and other lightweirght rigs, so maybe im just an old man yelling at a cloud.

Packing the rig took me a little practice as I am not used to such a long container, and am not a huge fan of floor plate closing loops, but thats more of a personal thing. I use asymetric folds (aka tilley fold) and have to change this slightly to fill the rig properly. The rig is quite long and narrow, and the pull is in almost perfect position to mostly put your arms at the side instead of reaching up and back, which felt a bit different for the first jump, but very natural overall.

We can argue about the harness on the other thread, but as a rigger, I just want to see the machine doing those crazy bartacks. Rigger porn! The new webbing is pretty cool, and I was a bit worried about the security of the buckles as it feels rather slick to touch, but no issues at all with slippage.

If anyone wants to see some specific pictures let me know. And again, im sure every other lightweight container is awesome, specifically the one you choose to buy, but I really do like this one more than any other one ive seen so far, which is very much a personal preference.

(edited to add, the picture is from my first jump with the container and its packed like garbage. When properly packed, the tucktab it further in and much cleaner)

Re: [hjumper33] Stream first impressions
Thanks for your first impressions.
Was it built for you? It looks very low.

Re: [B52] Stream first impressions
No not made for me, but made for someone with almost identical measurements. The pull is quite low, but in a nice spot for the wingsuit which is very comfortable. You can see the extra length is below where the junction of the mlw and lateral. It feel like the pilot chute is right about at my butt cheek as opposed to my hip on other rigs I've jumped. I should have an actual production one soon, but I don't think there will be much if any difference. I think this one is actually the one photographed for the website.

Sorry, I meant overall on the back.
Maybe it just looks like that, because the bulk of the canopy is at the bottom of the container.

Bump!

Let's hear more about it.
Anyone else been jumping the Stream?

Re: [Heat] Stream first impressions
I have about 50 jumps on mine and love it. Two slider down and the rest WS

I don't really have more to add that hasn't already been said, but I can definitely agree that the look and length are great. I was skeptical about the back pad at first, but when geared up and positioned in the stash bag, it makes the hike and the jump more comfortable.

happy to send you pics of mine in PM

Put quite a few wingsuit jumps on mine and love it. Lightweight comfortable and feels like nothing while flying. Highly recommend the ibex/stream for anyone doing long hike approaches and flights

Would second, but would amend to suggest the Outlaw lite 290 for most folks unless you know you really want a swoopy base canopy. The Ibex openings are much more squirrely than the Outlaw openings. I opt to pull higher in my Ibex.

Ive got 6 wing suit jumps on mine and about 10 slider down now. I use it with the outlaw lite 226.
container is great nice length and comfortable and lite.
Packing took some time to figure out the best folds but if you put as much material up in the top section it packs easy and spreads everything out flat.

Re: [hjumper33] Stream first impressions
I just have time to check one brand new never jumper with the outlaw that was order with it for 1 hour.
First for me it is too narrow and it makes it too thick at the end.
Too much stitching are "outside" and visible so they are more fragile like this.
Foam is totally useless as we have the container on our back for 5 minutes maximum, but it looks good.
I like the fabrics they are using for the BOC.
Flap system is good.
I think the risers connections are a bit lower on the harness so the wingsuit elastic part will be dead even faster than before.
The chest strap buckle is a mess as you need 2 hands to just loosen it.
The harness itself is beautiful and very well made.

My conclusion is that I guess with Marty in the team the next generation will be as good as the other company but for now it's a bit less quality

Re: [hjumper33] Stream first impressions
Just got my Stream (and Aura3 Wink) the other day. The Stream with an OutlawLite 226 on slinks and a 38 Snatch ready to jump came in at 10.8 LB (same as hjumper33's)

In terms of ease to pack, I found it a bit easier than other lightweight systems once I followed the manual for where to put the folds (not going to name brands to turn it into a brandwar).

The pin flap design is awesome. When the packjob is distributed properly the flap tucks all the way in the top and looks really clean too. There's not really any way for air to get under it in any style of flying, unlike other flap designs on the market.

The BOC sits in a perfect place for a wingsuit pull (like all other WS specific rigs on the market)

Once I get some jumps on the system I'll post back with more info, and maybe something on the Aura 3 if anyone is interested.

Re: [DFR] Stream first impressions
Very nice gear ! I would be interested in your thoughts on the start of the A3 ,as I know many felt the A1 went a bit sooner than the A2. Also, on the diving characteristics going from 3:1 to 1:1 and the stability at the steeper angles. Mucho thanx

Could you define "went"?

Re: [bas3] Stream first impressions
I'll let you know once I get some jumps on it. I'm coming from an A1 (never jumped an A2). I've got a few friends who have a fair bit of jumps on the A1 and then got the A2.

In terms of starts, they might have been slightly steeper than the A1 but they came out of the arc higher than the A1 and with more speed. At the same time, I saw other people doing really shallow starts in the A2 (like Hartman and Labounty) clearing big ledges right off the start without going steep.

From what I've heard on the A3 is you can take it steep off the start if you want and come out with more speed and power than the A2 or you can keep it shallow.

Looking at the suit it looks like an A2 tail with Crace style and wings and then the new compression inlets. I don't have any personal experience with the A2 inlets (they appeared the same as my A1's) but this suit should hold pressure a lot better. I inflated the suit with a hair dryer to see how it fit inflated and to test the "airlock" design, and there was a lot more pressure in the wings reaching to pull.

With what I've heard about it and the better pressurization and wing profiles, it should be a slightly better starting and much faster version of of the A2.

I'll be putting my first skydives on it Monday so I'll report back then.

Maybe we should split this into a new Aura 3 thread?

Re: [surfers98] Stream first impressions
went = started
But maybe not the best choice of words. I just remember when the A2 first came out I was jumping Jungfrau Melchstuel (Classic exit) a lot with a bunch of other guys ,who just came from A1 to A2's as well, and we all said how we couldn't fly over the field of dreams as high as we use to in the A1 (late morning loads with good starts)

Re: [wasatchrider] Stream first impressions
Hello!! I just got mine. Have you seen any problem jumping it slider off/down?? Do you leave the protector flap opened for short delays?? Thank you. All feedback is very welcome.

Re: [Chicolate] Stream first impressions
It works great I keep the flap closed. I have not done any ariels with it.

Re: [Chicolate] Stream first impressions
I leave the top tab tucked but the side part untucked. I've done a couple slider down jumps on it and a few 2-3 second slider up gainers on it no issues.
