Second hand info - riser snap, plus wear on pin connectors
I heard of a recent incident where the webbing that attaches the rings to the riser had worn and snapped resulting in a release on one side. I have no info on where when who how etc. I also saw a rig this weekend with notable wear on that webbing.

I also saw a rig this wekend whose owner was waiting for a new bridle as the webbing holding the pins to the bridle had serious wear with the threat of a failure and pin lock.

Just a call out for people to check their kit for these issues as they are both new to me.

Fair point to make, but if a jumper has neither the rigging skills nor common sense to notice that a piece of webbing is so worn on a riser that the ring would actually come off, or a bridle would actually fail at the pin attachment, that person should be seriously reconsidering base. This is life saving gear, treat it that way.

I would just like to add that I have grounded risers for wear that is only apparent while the 3 Rings are disassembled ie. not noticeable in a pre-jump gear check. Still no excuse though and I agree 100% with everything you said.

Yes, I guess I will have a lot to consider once I recover.
No excuses, the rings had been cleaned up a few times. It is obvious in hindsight the risers should have been replaced x hundred jumps ago.
