Re: [MrAW] PF - Vampire Alpine
Sorry for my shitty english (probably better than your french anyway ;) )
So, after 20 jumps with an Alpine (lend by a friend), ultra light cameroon, fins, this is my review.
I have ~700 ws base. My actual suit is a Sukhoï. I m not sponsorized but i flew mostly Phoenix Fly, by personnal choice.
Suit quality is like usually, for Vampires, close to perfect. The ultra light weight cameroon looks at first (and sound) fragile but in fact is way more resistant. Of course it s not the best choice for skydivers and people who land on their ass each time but really good for people who hike and jumps in big mountains. It s REALLY light (and so small in the stashbag). You still have the choice with "regular" light weight cameroon or parapak. The suit had all the storage pocket (in deflector, legs, chest). Good for moutain stuff.
"On the ground", the differences with the Sukhoï are the arms a little higher, more cells on the hips/ arms and longer deflector.
"In the air", the start are better and easier than SU. Flying with my friends (in Aura and Ridge) i was always, easily above. The biggest difference is not in the first 2/3 seconds but after. Glide and mostly speed are way better. By a quite big margin. The suit looks like she stay at same level, not going down. In flight you re definitly in a Vampire. For sure it fell bigger and a little less agile than the SU but switching from one to the other was without any troubles. The added surface on the upper body make it easier to fly than the SU. No problem for the pulling neither. It's a user friendly suit (with appropriate experience of course). Agility is really good, closer than a Vrace/Venom Power than other big glide suit. If you actually have one of these it ll be a perfect and valuable upgrade.
At my first flight with it from via ferrata (not even really good conditions) i flew through the waterfall (at the proper altitude not under the hollow). I was really impress by the glide (and my friends there too). I did some flight in Walenstadt too and it confirmed the excellent glide (and agility for some proxy line). You fly above the left grass slope easily and can go to the "high barn" and other new playground.
Without a lot of experience with this suit (and no so skilled pilot :p) i managed to do as good (or better) line than "sponsored" or "high talented athletes" in other brand "similar" suit. So i can't imagine when skilled people will post video with it...
In conclusion, the suit is easy to fly, easy to get amazing performance in: start, glide, speed. The agility is really great for a big suit. Pull is easy. The only troubles i had was to slow it down to match with my friends in multi ways (never arch so much since a while).
Personnaly i will keep my Sukhoï (because i already have it) but for most of the people, the Alpine will be a better choice, as i already said, easier, better start and glide, still fast and agile.
And for now, probably just the best choice on the market.
