Unimpressed On Sunday afternoon a 35years old experienced jumper did a jump from mount Titlis in Engelberg (Switzerland). Poor conditions due to fog/clouds. First information is that he impacted the terrain during flight in considerable distance from the exit.

I didn't know Patrick (Edit: It seems I had met him. I'm told he was on the same load where I did my 100th on the picturesque cliff that overlooks Lake Garda).

There's a link to another story about the long-exposure trace picture used in the story, and how he waited a week for the right conditions,

In reply to:
A week before the successful flight on February 11 Patrick Kerber was already once been uppermost on the Titlis, ready to jump. But since put a cloud bank on the Titlis-hill. The exercise had to be aborted.

It seems he was no stranger to calling off jumps if the conditions weren't right, but perhaps it was conditions for the photo rather than the safety of the jump? And yet it would seem that jumping into fog/cloud was a cause of this incident. Sad.

Last saturday we said farewell to our friend together with the family and his friends. The details of this accident have already been described on the police report quite well and that´s all we know about this accident and that´s probably all we will ever know about it.

Patrick was highly experienced jumper with over 2000 base jumps in total (1400+ with WS) and I considered him to be among the best alpine ws base jumpers in the world. He had spent countless amount of hours studying maps and hiking in the mountains to discover new jumps and had opened very impressive list of big flights in Swiss mountains not known to general public. He was also a very beautiful and respectful person and one of my closest jumping friends. I´m happy I got to spend some of the best moments of my career together with him exploring the swiss Alps and flying together with a great friend. My thoughts are with his parents and his wife and all of his family and friends.

Fly free my friend, until we see again!
