Douggs BASE Survival Talk
For those not on FB or have not seen it, well worth a watch.

"I have already lost count of how many friends have died in 2016 which is very sad. I was planning to release this video later in the year but now is as good a time as any. If you know of a base jumper than you think might be in danger of killing himself this year from not knowing his limits or complacency, then please ask them to watch this video. It is long and not action packed but if it saves just 1 young life it will be a success for me! I did 4 of these talks last year around the world. This one was filmed by the awesome Toby & Rachel of www.seventwentyproductions.com

I don't want to have any more deaths of friends this year so please take note and share to people in need from all adventure sports. Thanks! (apologies for all the UM's as this was an unrehearsed talk)"

I would almost make this mandatory watching for basically any beginning or experienced jumper. Makes some really nice points.

Re: [Mej] Douggs BASE Survival Talk
My favorite part was when he talked about spiking. Having your typical jumps be at 30% of your experience level. I've inadvertently incorporated that into my jumping in the last 8 months. I did my first solid object this summer. Probably the most emotionally intense jump I've done, but under canopy I immediately had no desire to do another one (for a while). I was glad I had done it, but I didn't really get enough extra out of it to justify the extra risk. Same thing with going handheld. The majority of my early jumps were stowed, but lately I've been doing go and throws wherever I feel comfortable doing so. The thing I realized was that even if it was less risky, it was still dangerous, scary, and really really fun.

I'd love to see video of that kjerag jump he talks about. He said he did three front flips in 15 feet and then took 10 seconds to recover from them and get stable. Scary. His friends thought he was dead for sure he said.
