Has anybody gotten a chance to play with the Flik2?

Todd told me today that they don't have demos available yet.

I talked to Todd about the differences between the FLiK and FLiK II a while back and he said after fluid dynamic testing, there was an area to the rear of the main lifting area that was unusually turbulent where the air flow was separating from the airfoil. He said Apex used some of the design characteristics found on the Lobo and redesigned the nose / top-skin to eliminate the turbulence and maximize efficiency.

I love my FLiK but haven't jumped it since I bought my Lobos. The Lobo is superior in every aspect. I have asked Todd for a Flik II demo but as Tom said, they are not available right now.

I noticed the fox is not available. Is there a Fox2 coming as well ?

I was wondering that too. I hope the Fox is still available, I like mine.

Got an e-mail from Apex. Appears that they will still produce the original Fox; they just have stopped advertizing it on their website. He also mentioned that they are currently developing a canopy for lower object and technical landings. I can't wait to see what they come up with.

Flik2 UL demo's are out and about. Just had mine for 4 jumps at the bridge. Love the flight characteristics, but the opening is... brisk.
Packs smaller than my Flik1 UL.

I bet its that canopy that flies and lands both ways

I bought a Flik2 to compliment my Flik. They are two very different canopies.

Flik2 has a hammer SD openings- then flies awesome.

Ive had heading issues with mine. (7 freefall jumps and not one dead nuts on heading) Sent it back to Todd and said canopy is fine- they did 2 sl and sent it back.

Opening for me are TWITCHY. lots of video of openings if anyone is interested. (not to mention 3 wraps on tailgate to keep back closed)

What is your wingloading on the Flik2? Same as your Flik?

Those are pretty short delays - go-and-throws, thus low airspeed, which means the mess coming off your back is more subject to wind since it's not cracking open as quickly. Just a thought. Maybe increase the sample size with a variety of delays and deployment types?

Well if 90 percent of my jumps are GnT I would expect similar openings as flik1 Also happens only daylight testing spot is 238 ft.

What's the line that's attached to your bridle in the first slowmo video? looks like it's tied on about 2 feet from the canopy attachment.

I hate to be that guy, but how about body position? Looks like you're asymmetrically loading your risers on the flik2 jumps vs the flik jump.

My guess would be that's the 2-point 'Multi' bridle attachment.

Ahh...yes. Probably so.

Flik2 has no options.....yes 2 point multi .

Of. Course BP can always be issue.

9\10 jumps on Flik1-on heading (378 jumps on flik1)
7 jumps on Flik2 not one on heading.(lefts and rights that isn't consistent either) just got it back from Apex and they did 2 S\l on it and said canopy is fine. I have no doubt it is.
Just pointing out its totally different opening canopy than Flik1. It does fly awesome may just not fit my style of jumping.

That was my complaint. I know for fact that jump was really flat and stable. The canopy seems to un roll left or right side first.

My 3/4 flik2 jumps were on heading, 1 was a barrel roll and it opened as predicted: off heading in the direction of rotation coinciding with body position.
Once open I LOVED the flight.

I tried rolling the snot out of the nose and it really made no difference. So probably great for a go and throw setup.

My flik UL is 266, Flik2 was 260.

For you lobo jumpers: any issues with soft openings? My demo of that was VERY soft off a static line, but then I loved the flight style. It worried me a little but I only got 1 jump due to weather,

I've noticed, compared to my other canopies, that my Flik UL is incredibly forgiving in terms of body position and heading auto-correctness. So you could be definitely right, changes in airfoil, line trim, brand new fabric, etc may have changed some of the opening characteristics compared to the Flik1.

Or maybe it's that silly top loading, pull through tailpocket

I'm in the market for a new canopy and the Flik2 has definitely peaked my interest, as I'm a huge fan of my Flik. I appreciate you sharing the info.

Im sure its bad body position ,so its sold. I hope to find a canopy with better body position.

I hate the inverted tail pocket.
Everything else is negotiable, but I hate that thing.

Glad other's like it and they're making it optional as plenty of lobo lovers like it. But I'm clearly too stupid to make it work well.

Open like my Flik 1 UL, fly and pack like a lobo or flik2 UL and I'll replace both my rigs immediately.
