idea from the threat in the general base forum: has anybody ever built a system to cut away the guide ring?

Would be convenient on slider down jumps, as an alternative to the line release modification. it would protect against a toggle that is accidentally dropped, or fired on opening.

a downside is that failure on a slider-up jump would be catastrophic, so you'd need some sort of fail-safe mode. (obv nothing is fail-safe in base)

maybe i am just re-inventing the wheel, i have no idea

Interesting idea. It would need to be faster, or superior in some way over Line Release Toggles:

I have a set we built around 2004 at the school.

You can come by and look at them if you want.

For slider down/off jumps i have the release tab on Adrenalin toggles out of the little pocket and peeled a little. Sometimes i even put a strip of electric tape covering the top half inch of velcro to stop it from sticking and so that it pokes out better.

I'm probably kidding myself at having enough time to release it in the event of a line over, and there's a small chance that the line excess may catch it and release the line, but yet again is a balance of risk i'm happy to accept.

Not necessarily? If you're landing in open green pastures, it wouldn't be too difficult to land with one toggle, right?

Right...that makes sense.

You are trying to try the L and R with a sewing mod. LRM justs does it all without sewing mods.
That is my take on your post. No worries, I do the same.
