Mr. Bill for base training?
Balloon jumps are def not the norm at my DZ, was wondering if anyone ever considered a mr. Bill as a kinda ghetto way to get some dead air jump experience. Obviously the exit is all wrong but as far as tracking after maybe?

Lol, if nothing else it's thinking outside the box. Cheapest way to grab some dead air. Smile

That's really an...um...original idea.

I don't think it's going to help much for BASE training though.

There are a lot easier ways to practice still air exits. Swimming pools, pendulators, bungee, zip lines, the list goes on...

Nothing wrong with doing a Mr Bill because it's fun* but I wouldn't kid yourself that it's going to be particularly useful as training.

Mr.Bill off Mt. Brento or in Norway would maybe help though... ;)

Lol...the "training" part was in jest, just a funny thought. A mr bill would still be easier than bungee jumping though. A built my own pendulator but it collapsed on my first attempt and I broke my coccyx.

A high percentage of being proficient at subterminal tracking is having consistent exits that put you in the most efficient AOA as quickly as you can. That would be hard to mimic in your example. By the time you corrected for your imperfect exit, that "subterminal" part of the track is nearly terminal.

However, it's hard to discredit how fun they are ;).

I think you'd be better off just not doing any training than doing that training.
